Good to see you back Billy. How do you think the fight would have turned out had the ref not stepped in?

I had Groves 5 rounds ahead and even in that last round never looked in trouble he was up on his toes exchanging punches.

Agreed. Damn shame it had to end like that. I hope we get a rematch

Froch has improved immensely, he used to be much worse. Technically he has always been very average. His intangibles seem legendary though.

I can remember watching Froch when he had something like 12 fights.

I was telling everyone that would listen he was going to get sparked because of that left hand of his. 10 or so years later I was almost right

His style seems to work for him, its not a style that lends itself to a long career though unfortunately.

speculating of course (who ain't on these threads? at least i'm honest!) but i imagine the initial plan was to establish range and negate that great jab of groves. that went out the window with that superb counter 1-2. after that, survive for a coupla rounds, keep groves active, work his body and drag him into the later rounds, where froch is 1 of the best there is and groves unproven.

sure groves was getting the better of the exchanges, but it's wrong to imagine froch was ineffective in them. strictly speaking you need to ask mccracken himself, if you can put aside your prejudice over his accent.

I've often thought his speed (or lack of it) lets him down. His Jab is very good, but quick fighters can really get to him. McCracken has done an amazing job over the years, I can't see how anyone else could have done any better.
