As a man I feel it is always right to be able to admit when you are wrong honestly after watching the fight live I thought Mayweather almost shut Alvarez out and procceed to gloat like any sports fan would but after just watching the fight for a second time with all the anticipation gone that fight was MUCH closer than originally thought and honestly a SD for either fighter or a draw is what it should have been.

Breaking down the fight while the compubox numbers were wide in Mayweathers favor Alvarez was in every single round his body work was extremely good tonight, his combination punches were sharp even if some were just body and arm shots his activity in a lot of rounds keep Mayweather on his toes. I think for his credit though the idea Mayweather is scary or soft should officially be dead, every single time Alvarez would let loose those combos Mayweather would respond with authority. Alvarez's growth these last couple of fights is promising for his future. Now this is not to under play Mayweathers performance because Mayweathers movement and aggressiveness were incredible but I've seen Mayweather-Castillo I & II, Cotto, Hoya, Judah, Hatton and every other fight that people say was close from Mayweather and after a second look this was the most competitive opponent I've seen in the ring with Mayweather and he is the only fighter to every make me feel he has a legit argument at earning At Least a SD/Draw either way. With that said bring on Mayweather-Alvarez II next May or Sept.

I agree sort of. I believe Canelo was in the fight for many of the rounds. But at times he employed tactics that weren't helping. Like trying to counter Mayweather and not punch with him.

I was watching the fight again today and Canelo was putting stuff together but needed the output to be higher. A lot higher.

...He was fighting smart but needed to throw more.

I don't think they should make this fight until after "Mayweather vs Baldomir II" is fought.

Listen Mayweather is my favorite active fighter but looking at that fight with an open mind from two different view points. If you favor Mayweathers defense and flashy punches a Mayweather domination is not out of the question but if you like Alvarezs aggressiveness and body/combination punches a close Alvarez decision is not out of the question. Think of a more legit version of the De La Hoya-Mayweather scorecard

i just watch punches landed and punches missed. I see who backs up what they say and who dont. I see who can use the ring and who cant. i see which guy has the answers to the other ones questions. thats how i see a fight in regards to who wins and who dont and this was not even close:deal

    Yeah, Alvarez did OK.

He won a solid 2 rounds.

    Wouldn't call that rematch worthy.

watching it again now. watching it live yesterday i felt canelo did ok, he definitely lost but i thought he did a hell of a lot better than guerrero or any of his last few opponents have done. he was not marked, cut, knocked down or stunned. he didn't look great against mayweather but who does? i will comment after i watch it right now.

Your speaking as though you feel I'm against the decision I have no problem with my favorite fighter adding another champ and title to his legacy but the majority of those rounds were close enough that a lot of rounds could be scores either way

How anyone saw that fight as close is beyond me slow down the video Canelo maybe hit floyd flush 5 or 6 times the rest of it was arm punches and rolled finger punches. Floyd lit canelo up like a pinball machine and canelo had no answer for it period.

In most cases with Mayweather just edging them by a punch or two

Bruh you have people arguing Hoya Mayweather was
A close fight/Hoya win using a less effective version of these same tactics, I personally felt Mayweather-Castillo II was the closer fight than I and people will argue Castillo won fight I using the same tactics only difference to me is Castillo was praised for his arm punches/body shots

after watching the fight again i scored it 116-113 in favor of mayweather alot of the rounds were very close. i scored the 1st round even. i feel canelo fought hard and kept the fight competitive. it was not a blow out by any means. floyd does just enough to win he does not kick his opponents ass he beats them. i saw floyd clearly winning 3 rounds the rest of the rounds he won were close. i saw canelo winning 2 close rounds and 2 clear rounds in my opinion. i tip my hat to mayweather though at age 36 the man is still sharp and in great shape. i was trying not to be biased in my scoring. the better man won but he did not kill canelo by any means. canelo had a little scrape on his left eye but that's about it, canelo did not do any damage to mayweather. canelo is getting better with every fight and last night was a huge experience for him and he still has the potential to have a great career ahead of him if he can stay and fight at 154 he will be a force to be be reckoned with. on the other hand i just don't see anyone who can beat mayweather anytime in the near future.
