The Video is tough to gauge. How big are you, you look fairly big? What are your goals with boxing. You seem to move well. I wish I had more room to move around in my spare room. My closest gym to where I live is two hours away. Sick.
5'7 177lbs, If I can get down to 160, fight at 154... maybe some amature stuff. Things is, before 2 months ago, I never boxed, never had any training. Just read and got some pointers from members on ESB. Oddly enough, boxing comes so natural. Plus, I am 25, kinda old for boxing. But we will see. I have only been boxing for about 2 months. :good I am trying to get a video camera so It can be clearer... I took that with a phone camera today... My gym is right around the corner, Worlds Gym in Philly.
Good luck with your goals- But just keep in mind, anyone can hit a heavy bag. Boxing might not feel so "natural" once you start on the double-end bag and the speed bag. Not to mention the first time someone hands you your ass in the gym. Not hating, just preparing... 25 isn't all that old. Especially if you do it for personal edification and fitness. Keep it up!
Thanks... I am taking it a step at a time... I have been sparring with a 6"3 who benches like 280... Pretty fast and cut up... He is giving it to me... But I am learning to fight at angles with him, get close and throw come combos inside... Thanks again for the tips!
5'7" @ middle? Do you lift a lot of weights? You may wanna stick with pull ups and pushups, dips and stuff, cuz the xtra muscle mass will weigh your arms down and take more calories to extend a punch. Plus lighter arms will hit the target faster. The most power at the lightest weight.
I lift about 2-3 times a week... I will see.. Depends how fast the weight comes down and how fatigue I am... If I do fight, it will be at light middle, 154. Reputable trainer said he would only train me If I got down to 160.
