Good stuff, keep it up. You seem to "get it", at least with the proper movements and i'm sure we can nit pick on little stuff, but as a self professed novice - you don't look bad at all. My only advice is try to loosen up a little. In the early part, you appear a little tense. Your punches will flow more smoothly and quickly once you're more relaxed. But that comes in time. Also, are those 16 oz gloves? Bag work and pad work is better suited for 12-14 oz. I know it seems counter intuitive - as some people don't want to get used to lighter gloves. But trust me you can sharpen up your accuracy and pop those shots better with a smaller glove. It will benefit you, even when you use bigger gloves for sparring.
Yeah mate, 16oz.. I've actually been using some 12's for the heavy bag at the gym and feel a lot more fluent with them on. I'm trying to separate my punches in combinations a bit so that everything isn't a predictable rhythm, and to allow time to see where the opponent has ended up instead of firing of a sequence of shots after he's already reacted to the first shot. Maybe it makes me appear a bit tense also
That's the first thing I noticed, too. - and they go hand-in-hand. What happens is that your leg does not get into perfect alignment, and that changes your balance / torso position. this is also partly why you get tired & flat-footed. Pivot, (put your knee in a slightly different place) get slightly on your toes, and maybe even keep your back foot a tad closer to you. You have more arm speed & power. But don't feel bad: It's very common for even pro fighters to forget about working on stuff below the torso, but that's a HUGE part of being really good. Watch vintage clips of Pernel Whittaker, and just try to copy him. (easy to say!)
Great job, you know what doing. Also good job on posting videos of yourself. A lot of people talk **** about boxing and get winded walking to kitchen. Your in fighting trim
Rocky1 & Cabbleaddict, I misunderstood at first, thought he was talking about pivoting off the front foot to change angles. So you mean like squashing the imaginary cigarette butt with the back foot when throwing the straight right, and doing the same with the left foot when throwing the left hook? I definitely neglected doing that by not being on my toes. Gotta work on that for sure.
Only thing i can tell u if you ever fight is.....just wear some puerto rican trunks and punch in the nuts all u can
mares woudlnt like your comment. hey slo, keep it up brow. you are an inspiration to all the flabby ass warriors on these forums, maybe they will follow your path:good
