Ok so this is my first sparring session since I broke my ankle, I got some bad habits while I was out and ate a s**t load(was never in good shape anyways). I was out for more than a year because I tried jumping into training to soon and messed up my ankle even more. (I'm the one in the cargo shorts -didn't have time to change)

Train with a decent coach and learn the basics. You need to lose weight if you want to box!
Keep your hands up, punch from your chin, step in with your jab, don't look away when you punch/get punched. How's that for starters?

Why are you sparring in those conditions? Was this in someone's basement or garage, or was this a training facility? There was no ring from what I could see, no mat flooring surface I suspect and lots of very hard surfaces surrounding where you two were sparring.

If this was a gym and these are the conditions you are expected to spar in, find another one with a proper ring, one that requires head gear and more importantly, one that requires the participants to be in better shape before sparring.

From the look of the punches thrown, neither one of you would have been in any trouble if getting hit, but **** does happen and your feet could have gotten tangled up a bit. If either of you fell against those large wood beams or metal posts, it could have gotten nasty.
