I think this is the only Greene footage on YouTube, and he doesn't exactly like his best in this. Well, if you think Raines looks good, I don't know what to tell you. Did you see the footage from his last fight that I posted? I looked slow, plodding, predictable, and poor footwork. And that wasn't against a world beater, mind you. My motivation is really nothing more than having become a fan of Greene after first seeing him fight live on a Tua under card in NYC. Since seen him fight a bunch of times, and think he has the potential to possibly become a really good fighter. He has a decent amateur background and won the national golden gloves before turning pro. I think Raines has been fighting at 160, but that shouldn't matter much, as Greene also used to fight as a middleweight until fairly recently. :smoke
I'll say this: Raines is a tough mother ****er and he should be proud. He was outclassed by a superior foe, but he showed heart & courage. Your boy should be proud, Tim. :good PS--Martinez would have destroyed my boy Greene. __________________
I agree with this statement though I was impressed with the two 12 punch combinations he threw late in the fight.
I like Greene a lot, and I hope the best for him in his career, but Martinez is too good for him at this stage--and perhaps, at any stage. Greene showed good skills tonight, and he won every round, but he also showed some vulnerabilities.
Greene has work to do...I agree that Martinez gives him fits. Raines made it a war but he did not have a jab in his holster. He just let Greene come in and do major work on his body without ever paying a price to get inside. In the end though Raines actually appeared fresher and more competitive doing nice work in round 7...though I gave it to Greene...and he was strong in the 8th, same story. I had it 8-0 tough SOB but needs a jab...he's a huge 154 if he can make it but he needs that damage doing jab.
I also had it 8-0, but Raines had a decent round or two. He seems poorly schooled. With his heart and size, I would think he can make better use of his tools with a better trainer, but at the end of the day, he will never amount to much more than what he is. I think they should get Greene two more opponents of that caliber this year before sending him in with anyone in the top 15.
Raines will not go anywhere with a ****** like goodscum managing his career, he either puts him against TPS bums from off the streets or against somebody way above him.
Here's a name Greene's camp should think about putting him in with before putting him in with top 15 comp: Harry Joe Yorgey.
He performed about as well as he could have, given that it was pretty clear he was completely outclassed. He showed a lot of heart and a good chin - which is why, btw, I thought that those who were picking him to get blown out early were off the mark. I thought he won a round or two (I had it 78-74 like one of the judges), but it was pretty much a one sided win. This performance should get Delray another ESPN fight, he proved he can at least hang with these guys. One level below Greene and he's have a good shot at victory.
