I have been reading a book about Peter Maher, by what I think is/was a poster of these forums. There is a section where Maher fights Kid McCoy after the death of a child and his wife is ill. During the fight it is reported that McCoy brigs that up as a way to get in Maher's head. It got me thinking how low that was and was wondering of more example.

On the lighter side, Camacho called Pazienza a bleeder and it was reported in my KO magazine that he threw a sanitary napkin at him. I was unfamiliar with the term until then...the more you know...

Marvin Hagler referred to then middleweight champion Hugo Corro as a "sissy" in goading him to defend the title against him.

Tyson mentioned something about eating Lewis' children which is a pretty nasty thing to say, and of course Duran called SRL, and more importantly his wife, every name in the book leading up to their first fight. And Ali called Frazier a gorilla, and a host of other names, which ****ed of Frazier for decades.

I think it was Bobby Chacon, or Bazooka Limon, who was talking about he would kill another english fighter, like Johhny Owen vs Zarate.

That was Limon before his fight with Boza Edwards. Also, the classic line by Duran after his bout with Ray lampkin about sending him to the morgue instead of the hospital if he was in better shape.

    Yeah, thanks.
Limon used to be cold blooded in the pre fight talks.

Tyson: "March 18, Razor Ruddock is going to die, if he doesn't die it doesn't count".

Froch made similar comments about Kessler in the rematch and he got roasted for it.

    How could I forget.

Tyson: "I tried to hit him with an uppercut to get his nose bone into his brain".

Yeah I remember those as being among some of the worst and most personal . Smack talking before a fight is fine. But comments about family and race should always be left out of it.. Those guys should have been ashamed of themselves for some of those remarks. To his credit, I believe Mike Tyson apologized to Lewis and his wife after the fight about the "baby" comment, if I heard correctly. Not sure if Duran or Ali ever made amends for their slander.

Those were the first two that came to mind for me.

Not quite as mean but one of my favorites is Mayorga telling (the unmarried) Vernon Forrest that he was going to take his wife back to Nicaragua with him so that she could clean his yard or something.

Yeah....I saw that one live on TV.

Lampkin had fought a good, competitive fight until he ran out of gas at the end.

Thinking about it now, Lampkin's fight plan of "movement", reminds me of what SRL did to Duran in Fight #2.

"Two-ton" Tony Galento had his standard phrase "I'd moider da bum" for many fights and situations. Whether he meant it...someone needed to ask Galento.

Just watched the Lampkin fight for the first time a couple months ago and thought the exact same thing. Didn't run quite as much as Leonard but he did a great job controlling the range and scoring from the outside in the early part of the fight. Impressive performance. Had a few technical flaws (lack of head movement, coming in too square, retreating straight back, etc.) that cost him though.

Not sure if anyone here has seen this, but during the Galento Louis fight, as they are facing off before the starting bell, the ref checks Louis hair, probably to make sure it doesn't have product in there. Galento then says "nah, you missed it" and he rubs Louis hair with a towel for like 3 seconds. Louis didn't flinch, he just kept hopping up and down. You can hear Blackburn saying something like "Hey! Why don't we do that to you?!"

I was pretty surprised to see those kinds of antics back then.
