They were anything but clear for GGG. You could make an argument in some of the close rounds for GGG, but you're acting like the rounds in question, i.e. the rounds that determined the victor were all "close but clear" for GGG. For you to say you had it anywhere from 9-3 to 7-5 or to suggest that this is what you've deemed to be the acceptable range, you've narrowed the entire match down to only 2 mere swing rounds, as if there were only 2 unknown rounds out of the 12 that were debatable, that the other 10 were clear. It's just simply not the case. There were far more than 2 swing rounds, most of the rounds were debatable. You try and ignore a round like 11 and pretend it was a clear GGG round because he started the round well forgetting that Canelo worked his way back into the round in the 2nd half and landed the harder cleaner shots, while you're quick to dispute Round 12 since more gave that to Canelo. As I always try to do, you should go into every round with an open mind and understand the arguments for each fighter.
Another close fight that people are over dramatic about. I also think the right guy won here, he brought the fight to GGG effectively and controlled the action in a close competitive fight… The change in strategy from the first bout was cool to see, and respectable given the wrecking ball we all know GGG was.
I went to every round with an open mind. Rnds 2, 3, and 12 were close but clear rounds for Canelo. The rest were Golovkin. The first fight was a landslide for GGG from the media and fans alike. It is a notorious robbery. The 2nd fight Canelo made great adjustments and rose to a new level, he pushed GGG to the limit, but GGG passed that test, winning the championship rounds. Through the fight he landed fantastic clean hard jabs and clean bombs that Canelo took to his credit. GGG should be famous for 2 things, beating Hopkins alltime middleweight title defense record with a massive KO percentage, and the only man to defeat Canelo twice.
Absolute poppycock !!! Canelo never ever legitimately beat GGG even in the third fight when GGG was just going through the motions he still stayed fresher than Canelo who was absolutely Knackered
11 and 12 were each extremely close. For anyone to argue either of them were clear is completely delusonal. As you know, I scored the 11th to Canelo and the 12th to GGG, but you could just as easily argue GGG won the 11th and Canelo the 12th. You giving GGG both the 11th and the 12th, while arguable is biased scoring. You need to give GGG those rounds in order to have him winning due to how many rounds he lost earlier. The fact is he just didn't win either of those rounds convincingly enough to argue the result was even remotely a robbery. It was an extremely close match, as was the first match, and for anyone to undersell the competitiveness of either of those fights, to claim it was a robbery or a clear win for either fighter, it screams bias. The difference between you and me is that while we disagree on who won, unlike you I point out how close they were and how many of the rounds are debatable. The difference between the first two fights is that far more fans and media are willing to score the rematch to Canelo, where few were willing to go that far for the first fight. The reason being Canelo fought more aggressively in the rematch and fans generally like that and reward that in their scoring.
All that being said, GGG has no official wins over Canelo, which is a travesty. They were both bad ass fights featuring two legends, just the wrong guy got the nod. Canelo proved that he wasn't like GGG'S other apponents, outside of Jacobs. Like Leonard and Hearns, they were a great match, they were better than the rest. Both landed shots that would have taken out other fighters, but they were both able to take it, even in the 3rd fight.
