I had the fight for Golovkin, but at the end of the day I can live with the result, as in...it was a close fight. What I have a bigger problem with now, is the first fight. I mean, a lot of people are simply gonna have to revise their previous opinions and arguments in justifying that draw score, when they claim this to be a clear cut win for Canelo. BCS8 has got a point in his post...claiming Canelo deserves a clear win because of pushing back GGG, but being ok with him backpedaling the first fight to earn a draw doesnt make any sense. One gets to be the consumate boxer counterpuncher, while the other is reduced to the shot fighter "forced" on the defensive. Makes no sense to me
Of course it was fine for Ward to have a tune up before fighting a top 5 P4P guy in Kovalev. I am merely calling out the hypocrisy. Ward was expected to fight right away and yet Fury needs 5 fights and 2 years before facing Wilder? Wilder, a guy Fury himself said he could beat right off the couch and the Fury followers supported that narrative. Some even made statements that Wilder would never face Fury. This is what I am speaking to. If you want to continue to criticize Wilder for facing Fury in December, go ahead but, this is a fight that people wanted to see and was delayed due to Fury's antics. It's not Wilder's fault that Fury took 3 years off, got morbidly obese, did drugs and drank in excess. All the while calling out all the top heavies. Fury is in the position he is in because of his own actions, not Wilder!
I agree Fury has no one to blame for being inactive and if you go back and look I **** all over him but ward was in the same boat with only himself to blame
Makes absolutely no sense and Canelo fans won't admit it. In the 2nd fight Gennady was slipping many of Canelo's punches through Rounds 1-6 , which were rounds that most thought Canelo won. If you rewatch those rounds, just because Canelo was staying in the middle of the ring, doesn't mean he was scoring effective punches.
The more time goes on, the more people are waking up to the fact that it was a bad decision. I'm glad to see that. I thought it'd be the opposite where a guy who gets the W usually gets away with it and the robbery is forgotten. Not the case here. This one's not going anywhere.
And people trying to legitimize this win, good luck, most boxing fandom will never see this as a Canelo win and he'll never get full credit for it.
It was nearly not possible to give Canelo more than 3 rounds. At best for Canelo it was 8-4 GGG. It was a not-so subtle robbery.
Ward did have an injury but, the law suite is something up for debate. You can argue that Ward was out because of a law suite he didn't need to go through. But still, his come back fights were much better opponents than Fury's. And don't get me wrong, Fury needs tune ups. He messed up by letting his mouth write checks his ass couldn't cover is all. After it is all said and done, Fury should be in good condition come December. This is a good fight that answers a few questions. Is Wilder the goods and is Fury all he's talked up to be?
