Media Scores for Mosley-Mora

Mora made that fight suck. Holding constantly. He would of been stopped in the 10/11/12th if he hadn't held so much.

It was a **** fight, but that was because of Mora

 

I had Mora 117-112

And really I couldn't give a **** what the 'media' says as they dont have any particular skill which would make them better at scoring a fight than any of us. We all know the rules.

 

Boxing is fighting. Boxing is a sport. Fighting isn't running and holding and barely hitting. Sport isn't about boredom.

Mosley won.

 

I watched the fight with no sound and do it on a week-by-week basis and had Mora 117-112.

 

This is true and I believe since he's Sugar Shane Mosely any rounds that were close they thought it should go to Mosely.HBO commentators are the biggest jokes ever.Most of the rounds were even on my score card.

 

I had Mora winning, I watched the American HBO broadcast. Shane came in stronger in the last 4 or 5 rounds, but before that , I thought Mora was defo winning the fight. Yes it could be seen as a negative way of fighting, there was a lot of running, but I had Mora winning that fight none the less.

On ESB, the majority thought Mora won.

 

I'm wary on trusting media scoring. Just like some professional judges and refs, they don't want to alienate promoters and have a tendency towards scoring for the bigger name.

Not to say they're always wrong or corrupt or anything like that, just that it should be taken with a grain of salt.

I'VE SEEN MANY TIMES WHERE THE MEDIA DID NOT SCORE FOR THE "BIGGER NAME".....THATS MYTH AND AN EXCUSE USED AFTER FANS WATCH A FIGHTER LOSE THAT WAS IN SUSPECT....

I WAS IN A DEBATE THE OTHER DAY WHERE A POSTER WAS ARGUING MEDIA SCORES ARE ALWAYS CLOSER THAN JUDGES SCORES...NOW A FAN COMES ALONG AND HAS THE OPPOSITE VIEW AND TRIES TO ARGUE THE OPPOSITE..

IF THE MEDIA SCORES WERE MORE MIXED I WOULD AGREE WITH YOU BUT THERE NOT...THEY ALL GOT SHANE WINNING THE FIGHT

 

I didn't even mention Mosley-Mora in my post. I didn't score the fight seriously, so maybe I'll find that I agree with them if I watch it with the sound off. Watching casually, I didn't care enough either way to get upset with the draw. With how wide some of those scores were, it seems like Shane's getting some good will, though.

And, yes, sometimes the media will give a fight to the bigger name even if they weren't the clear winner. They'll also give biased reports about certain fights or fighters from time to time, too. Teddy Atlas is part of the media. Do you think he's completely fair and unbiased when Wlad Klitschko fights?

They're human just like the judges are, and subject to the same influences and biases that every boxing fan is- hopefully, it doesn't get to the point where it clouds judgment, but I'm not naive enough to believe it never does.

 

He did that throughout the fight, not just one round. Boxing is judged by each round. If (for arguments sake), he landed 161 punches in 4 rounds, that means he landed nothing else for 8 rounds. Mora should win 8-4 then. Also, effective aggression is only one part of winning a round. I haven't seen the fight yet unfortunately and all these threads are making me rather curious to score it.

 

Noone should be surprised by how bad mora made mosley look, you dont look good vs mora.

that being said it was daylight robbery. mosley clearly won more rounds.

i had it 10-2 for shane. gave mora rounds 10 and 11.
