Elsewhere I posted the 2nd Mannix cnncsi article because the history of this by the NYSAC should be kept in mind if something horrific happens to Margarito. (It is a separate issue of whether that is "Karma" and deserved.) But the 2 Mannix pieces, if accurate, reveal that the NYSAC was supposedly set to DENY Maragarito a license to fight based on his injuries. Now on one hand we have 3 opthalmalogists--2 of which were in Arum's "corner"-- hopefully not risking their licenses to give an accurate opinion. OTOH, medicine is far from an exact science, and probably there is no way they can predict how well Marg's skin, bones, eyes, will hold up if Cotto bangs on them for a while. And I guess originally they were set to decide with caution in mind, as when a ref stops a fight perhaps a tad too soon. Mannix' 2nd piece related that it was outside political and economic pressure that forced a reversal here. And that they were ready to deny MArg a license a few days ago. The NYSAC now also feel they are legally protected if something bad should happen as they had 3 drs. involved. I trust people are not naive and realize that these matters--more than what happens to Marg--is what is in play here. And that medicine being far from exact re such injuries and "rebuilding" etc., may not accurately predict what will happen here. But as per the above, this may all be set up for what some would call a wonderful karmic ending. I for one think that Marg knew, and likely had plaster hands when he fought Cotto, Cintron and others, and a lifetime or longer ban might have been appropriate.
