Hey guys. Does anyone does this?
I mean, lay down and have your partner drop a medicine ball onto your stomach. If so, how much has this helped you in absorbing body shots? Is it effective? Also, how heavy is the ball you do it with?

Old school non-sense. Doesnt help you take body shots and just causes damage. Work on good solid core work.

I used to do it before i knew better

:lol::lol: slamming a heavy object into your stomach causes damage! its not rocket science is it. Yes a punch does the same thing but you dont become immune to punch damage because you spend your time damaging your body by other methods. Times better spent strengthing your core and abdominal wall. The only thing i can think that would benifit from medball being slammed into your stomach is you tend to tense and contract the stomach muscles and therefore "work" them. However theres lots more efficient ab and core exercises that dont require you to potentially get damaged.

If im completely wrong then the same theory could be used to the head, slam a medicine ball into your face and chin and see if it helps you take a punch better.

Virus i think it was scraps post that first got me thinking about it and then stopping it. If you think about something and it doesnt really make sense then best to stop it regardless of what the "pros" do or the "old timers" in my oppinion

I agree it's stupid and damages the body, others think it's a great idea.

You think it's worth the damage to your internal organs?

Things like that may happen in a match when you take a punch, but this is training. Training smart means avoiding injuries. Doing something you know may injure you is not smart training, it's stupidity.

I wouldn't be surprised if the repeated impact while you're tensing had some positive effect on a micro-level within the muscle fibers/tissue, but as far as I can tell it's not at all necessary and has the potential to damage you.

  11. but really does it cause damage to your internal organs?
