Nobody's talking of damaging organs! It's just slamming a soft, nice, round medicine ball to your abs, the abdominal wall's there for absorbing impacts and that's precisely the idea - while training and when fighting!
But it doesnt, its a reflex action to Feel. Its like saying the skull protects the Brain from damage ,of a heavy blow where the opposite occurs. when something is hit by an outside force impact, result is.
You can drop as many medicine balls on yourself as you like, if somebody smacks you in the right place, liver, kidneys, floating ribs for example it's gonna hurt and possibly end the fight or training.
If any of you are worried about this happening from a ball, maybe your in the wrong sport...
If any of you are worried about this happening from a ball, maybe your in the wrong sport...
Not worried about it, what I said is a fact.
Haha boxing lad makes me laugh, try saying this when youve competed in martial arts where you can get hit without the benefit of padding protecting you, we used to kick and punch a nylon heavy bag barefoot and fisted, that was when i was 8. pain doesnt even get my attention in the ring or in training im too busy thinking about how to walk you into a right hand to even notice it. Fact is i care about my body, i kicked a good friend in the ribs once during training and 4 years later he still has problems with it day to day, i dont think i have to remind you that ribs like this is going to mean a lack of consistency on more than one level.
Please stop talking like you have a clue, do you even know the reason why a liver shot puts you down and ****s up your legs? impact on your your ab wall and ribs travels through the organs just beneath them and through to the liver and you switch off like a kind of backup power system, lights are on but not everythings there, its your bodys defense mechanism, a similair principle to when your bodys exposed to periods of extreme cold.
If you slam it at full pelt into your gut it is damaging but your not meant to do that. It isn't the harder the better results. It tightens the stomach muscles and will prevent body punches having the full effect if used on a very regular basis.
If any of you are worried about this happening from a ball, maybe your in the wrong sport...
:deal
Nice discussion, There are many videos of people performing and advertising the medicine ball throwing to the abdomen exercise. If I'm not mistaken that exercise is shown on u.k television during a supplement ad.
I sometimes do it to. In boxing nothing is good for your body, if you do it carefully it wont kill your body but lets be real: if you want not to get hurt you should do hockey or something. boxing is a brutal sport
You can have a washboard stomach and all the crunches and exersises in the word and still NOT be able to take a good body shot. The medicine ball impact on your stomach is one effective way to condition your body into taking hard body shots. It works. You do it consistently and build up the intensity. Warm up first with an exercises.
