Tyson is, by and far, rated extremely highly in HTH match-ups.

The challenge here is to come up with medicore or so so fighters that you feel would have the best chances of beating him, for any number of reasons.

Feel free to explain why as well.

    Ross Purity comes to mind.

Tyson at his best weights could give up as much as 50 pounds against Purrity.

Purrity has also shown the ability to be a Ray Mercer style punching bag for 11 rounds before finishing fights, like when he upset and knocked out Wladimir, or knocked out the extremely tough Joe Hipp in the tenth round of their fight.

    Thoughts?

he is probably better than so-so, but the guy that I rank below tyson that I feel would give him an upset loss (in most peoples eyes) is Ron Lyle...Big and strong enough to survive an early tyson assault and ala Buster take him out in 9 or 10!

    Hmm, not a bad choice.

Don't know if Lyle has enough in his arsenal to beat Tyson. As in variety.

The best Purrity can hope for is going the distance while getting a horrendous beating.

Tyson wont go down to a punchers chance and contrary to what you might believe can win a decision if he cant knock you out.

Based on what does Lyle take Tyson out ?. Being tough enough to last the distance ? that only buys him an extended beating.

The fight could go 12 rounds without Lyle landing cleanly more then 5 times.

At best the fight looks like the Ruddock 2 fight for Lyle.

A crude slugger like Lyle is not beating Tyson.

Lyle was not a crude slugger he could box fairly well he was out boxing Ali before being stopped in their fight he also had a lot of power Foreman claims he was the hardest hitter he faced.

Oliver McCall....Tyson would not be able to stop him but McCall has the ability to stop Tyson.

Was there a rumour that McCall sparred with Tyson a couple of times and was knocked him a couple of times as well?

That was late 70s Ali he was outboxing he could box a little bit but not enought to beat Tyson.

Tyson gives him a beating over 12 rounds

McCall said in an interview it was about five-all in knockdowns between them.

No mediocre fighter is going to beat Tyson. No one destroyed lesser fighters better than Mike Tyson.

McCall stated in an interview he knocked Tyson down five times in sparring, and Tyson did the same to him. With the hundreds of rounds they did together, that IMO, is perfectly possible.

Another guy that I would rate so so that others may rate higher is Tua. I don't see tyson KO'ing him...I don't like him (Tua), just don't believe it happens..I also don't believe tua could outpoint him...But I would give him a chance!!!! not a great one but certainly a realistic one, that he could end this in the later rounds...i wouldn't bet on it...but this was not about a certainty, rather who would have the most concievable shot...Tua and Lyle would certainly be underdogs, and rightly so...but to discredit them easily when Tyson lost to Douglas in reality, would almost be equally foolish!

    That's it in a nutshell.
