    Medina has claimed that his life was threatened at the weigh-in for his fight with Juan Manuel Lopez. He was told that if he did not throw the fight in the first round he would not leave the US alive.

    He swears on his daughter for that being the reason that the fight ended in the first round.

    Thoughts?

    Here's the full quote from Medina;

    "During the weigh-in they told me that if I didn't throw the fight in the first round, I wouldn't leave the United States alive,....What hurts me more is that I was prepared for twelve rounds, but I had to throw the fight because I felt a lot of fear. I was nervous before the fight and did not want to fight. It is known that there was a certain amount of money being paid out if Juanma stopped me in the first round. I swear on my daughters that what I say is completely certain. They threatened me so I threw the fight."

    I wouldnt be surprised either. He didnt even really looked dazed, and Lopez didnt really have any clean fights on him during the replay. And Medina's a decent fighter.

    exactly i wouldnt be surprised if this happened in a shady country like Colombia but not in the States on the undercard of the biggest fight of the year and with all the media atention.

    Him swearing on his daughter erases all doubt as far as I'm concerned. He threw the fight, and he was probably threatened at the weigh-in. I'm not going to insult him to call him a bullshitter, he swore on his child's life.

    Looks suspect to me.

    Those times he was going down, he wasn't even hardly hit. It looks like he just went down so it looked convincing, as a prelude to staying down.

    Lopez is a hard puncher, but come on now.

    him swearing on his daughter doesnt mean **** to me what looked shady was the fight itself with him being dropped by punches to the elbows,i remember this guy going the distance against Batista and giving Batista a very tough fight and i tought he was very tough.

    Hmmm.

    I just watched the fight again, more closely.... and it does seem suspect.

    Don't mean **** to you, it makes all the difference to me. He wouldn't swear on his daughter to the media if what he was saying wasn't true. Simple as that.
