Medzhid Bektemirov is a 28 year old Light Heavyweight with a 16-0 12 KO's record. Born in Makhachkala, Russia and currently fighting out of Houston, Texas, USA. Along with Artur Beterbiev, Medzhid is another fighter coming from the Dagestan region in Russia near the oil rich Caspian Sea, something must be in the water, growing LHW monsters. He has a similar style to Beterbiev so if you like Artur you may like him. He hasn't had the same success due to the fact that he is based in Houston, Texas and is promoted by Lou Savarese, he really needs a new promoter but he has a good trainer in Ronnie Shields he has great potential and can go places, but I think he's being held back. So let's hope Medziah can get a shot at a semi relevant LHW and make an impact then maybe he can get the push he deserves. Although I'm not sure if he's quite as heavy handed as some of his countrymen. Check yet another Light Heavyweight Russian Savage.:toney:toney:toney:toney

Another Russian one-man LHW demolition team?

It's getting boring now... If the American greats from ye olde times had still been alive they would have schooled him greyscale style :bart

Seriously, the Russian/Central Asian/Eastern European era is clearly taking shape now.

    Nope it isn't ;)

I actually mean it's incredible the number of MW's and LHW's coming trough now from that part of the world, and it clearly rubs some fans from the 'big' boxing countries the wrong way. I think it's pretty funny actually, while they obviously think it isn't.

I watched the Bektemirov Vs Page fight.
IMO he still looks pretty green - and has a lot of flaws.
He didn't jab his way in, didn't cut off the ring, didn't pressure and looked to gas out.
Fought in bursts and was in love with his power a bit.
But when he did throw, he looked dangerous, big guy - good defense for a Russian.
I'd of liked to of seen him jab before throwing that left hook, he often threw the left hook by lunging, bit telegraphic.
Not on Beterbiev's level IMO, not yet at least. At 27, he'd want to be fast tracked somewhat though.
    What was his amateur record?

I'm not sure if he had any, he started out as a MMA fighter in Russia.
