I think your being a bit unkind in calling Edwards third rate as a kickboxer pal, The only guy he has lost to recently was SLOWINSKI, if you know anything about the KB scene I dont need to tell you who he is.

He has basically beaten anyone willing to fight him in Australia, Andrew Peck and Mick Siebert by first round KO ring a few bells as well as Thor Hoopman

    Certainly packs a whack Rodin.

'Big' Ben posts here occasionally (under Governor - or similar), and says he's making too much money kickboxing to take on boxing full-time....pity.

I know who Slowinski is, whom I don't rate at international level (although he is a good fighter and has had good success). I am just talking skill wise. He is good for the southern hemisphere. One of the best of a bad lot. I watched that fight on youtube yesterday and Ben was rubbish. I don't even want to start with how crap Peck is.

Maybe I'm too harsh a critic. I lived in the Netherlands for years. The skill level of the random club fighter is a lot higher than a big percentage of aussie and kiwi heavies. Ligher weight divisions down this way are not so bad. I think I just have a problem with the heavyweight fighters.

Any info on heavyweight Willie Filipe ?

The man mountain , 6'3'' and 280 lbs [ could certainly lose 30 or 40 lbs ] made his debut at Parra leagues club on 20/5/10. His opponent didn't put up too much resistance but Willie showed good technique while it lasted.Snappy jab and good combinations.

Hope we get to see more of Willie to see if he's got what it takes.

Does anyone else assume there will be an influx of H/W on the boxing scene- those who may have been Rugby players- inspired by the current $$ the fight game in Oz is producing??
