Meeting and seeing boxers outside the ring

Boxers are, in general, the nicest and most approachable of all pro athletes. Especially after fights and when they aren't fighting. Leading up to fights, they have to get in the right mind set. So it's best to avoid them. (LOL)

 

So what was Ward like? Ward seemed like he was portrayed as the villain between him and Sergey. Max seems like a person that would not give a fan the time of day. But its seems opposite than what you would think.

 

Saw Lloyd Honeygan in Edmonton ( England ) said well done for beating Curry, he replied **** off .

 

I saw Carl Froch in a Tesco in Nottingham. He was telling the checkout girl and everyone within earshot that he fought in front of 80,000 at Wembley.

 

Did he say thank you first?

 

He is one of those "I am famous but not famous enough?"

 

Saw Naseem Hamed in his early days. He was in a large dept store I used to work in Manchester.

Bizarrely I saw Marco Antonio Barrera as well in Manchester City Centre He was in my home town for his fight with Amir Khan, although when I saw him he was doing a publicity thing with cameras etc, so didn't just bump into him (didn't see Ami Khan although was there in a corporate box for his loss to Prescott in Manchester. Separate funny story to that).

 

Also saw Kevin Mitchell, although that was in the venue just before the Khan v Prescott fight.
He came into a room I was leaving and must've thought he knew me when we made eye contact because was asking me how I was getting on etc.

 

I don't think I would ever approach anyone famous. I would hate to end up getting the Michael Jordon treatment.

 

I've met and worked out with Daniel Ponce De Leon, and Edwin Valero back in 2004 or 2005. I used to be friends with Daniel ponce De Leon's side chick.

I've also met a Israel Vasquez, Abner Mares, Erik Morales, Mike Anchondo, Steve Luevano.

I used to also be friends with the girl in the braids, Former champion Mariana Juarez.

Grew up in the world of boxing so lucky enough to have met more than I can count going back as far as Peter Kane, Ernie Roderick and Larry Gains.

 

Ward was very nice. Chatted for a few minutes. Thanked me for being a huge fan (a lie I fed him out of courtesy and being slightly star struck).

Max was nice, but it was a fake nice, so you're right about that.

 

I never looked at it that way but you are right. Only a crazy person would mess with a pro boxer. I have been to fights but never a press conference. All of my interactions have been totally accidental. Can’t imagine meeting Manny or one fine he ATG’s.
