Met Larry Holmes last winter, he opened a bar/restaurant in Easton by the river, I went there but the place wasnt open and he was having a biz meeting but I came in there anyway Turned out to be a lot nicer than he comes across as or is portrayed funny guy, signed some gloves for me and my brother My brother bumped into Tony Thompson at Board Walk Hall but he didnt seem to interested in talking, youd think an American heavyweight in this day in age would relish in the fact that someone knows who he is
he seems to have ADHD; he doesn't seem quite as much of a ***** as he puts on for the media. i think he hams it up a little for the camera. Most of my interaction with him was back in the pre-Oscar fight days, so he wasn't quite as famous back then - people would not recognize him at Wal Mart and stuff. He is nowhere near as "normal" as Brian Villoria, though - Floyd says eccentric things and just seems a little off, but in a kind of interesting way. Not the most mature guy in the world, but he was friendly enough, unlike Ishe Smith, who was too busy looking at his phone to even respond to hello. plus I have to be honest, Floyd's size in real life makes that petulant attitude seem somewhat appropriate. I'm used to being one of the smallest guys in a room in a lot of environments and Floyd was really no bigger than me. It's more like an adolescent in an adolescent's body.
Ken Buchanan came to Shotts prison when I was erm..passing and I asked him about the Duran fight. He said with better refereeing,no bad foul and slightly better preparation he felt he could've beaten him,so you can imagine my shock when I saw him in the paper with Duran saying he felt priveledged to have shared the ring and had no problems with losing to a genuine ATG! He seemed quite emphatic when I asked him! I met Barrera at one of those dinners but I suppose that doesn't really count.
