I was thinking about these yesterday; fights everybody wanted at some point where one guy was hyped as something they're not and would have actually lost embarrassingly had the fight actually happened.

    Here's one:

    Calzaghe vs Dawson
At the time most of ESB was pro Dawson in this one and assumed Joe was ducking him but knowing what we know now it would have been a complete embarrassment for Dawson had the fight happened.

    Calzaghe vs Pavlik
    Same as above really

Which other ones can you think of?

Gamboa and JML would have been a proper one-sided beating.

I think Dawson would have beat Calzaghe cause of styles. Dawson has the speed and great boxing skills to beat Calzaghe. I think however Calzaghe would easily beat Pavlik. I know most Pavlik fans will say *if thats the case then why calzaghe duck to fight pavlik?* well mosy thought calzaghe duck to fight lacy but when that fight happen, calzaghe easily beat lacy in a shut out. Calzaghe would have done the same to Pavlik.

he would of done the same to dawson. there is nothing in dawson's style that would of troubled calzaghe. but there was plenty in calzaghe's style to trouble dawson. calzaghe is a much, much better fighter. he would of handled him pretty easily.

he's not on calzagh'e level. never has been, never will be.

    Very nice, thought provoking thread.

Calzaghe - Pavlik is one that immediately came to mind, I know there's some more, I'll have to get thinking and check back in a bit!

Dawson is a far better fighter then 1 dimensional Lacy and imo is better then Kessler. Calzaghe would have a face a complete boxing skills fighter in Dawson who imo would beat Calzaghe.

1990 Tyson-Foreman. Too bad this massive fight never happened.

I just think Tyson was too fast and Big George was a huge, immobile target.
Tyson may not have knocked him down, but the ref is stopping this one
    in the mid rounds.

However, Dawson is not better than Hopkins by any stretch and we will find that out surely.
