good point. if there had been more rounds jc would of proved his superiority imo the biggest myth about this fight is when people say that taylor was winning confortable. i though the fight was very close a lot taylors punches were landing on chavez's gloves. jc was landing the harder more accurate shots
i myself don't think it was a bad stoppage. steele wasnt to know how long was left exactly. it only takes split, split of a second to land a really damaging punch. taylor was in a bad enough state after that fight
Very talented Fighter who Didn't fight the style best suited for his attributes. The fastetst hand's I ever seen, Underated Puncher and his ability to take punishment from Chavez was unreal. (IMO, Both fighter's came out less from that fight, people never talk about the effect's that fight also had on JCC, It would be years before Chavez would fight on that level again) I label M.Taylor a great fighter. (With a short prime)
The stoppage was justified in my view, if very unfortunate. Meldrick arguablty deserved the Decision over 12, but Chavez beat the hell out of him.
taylor was sort of like an enigma in the ring ... we seen bright flashes of what he was capable of in the chavez fight ... he was almost like the jimi hendrix of boxing ... chavez fight being his woodstock ... a high water mark showing where the wave finally broke ... truely sad
the Us commentator really were too biased towards meldrick that night. they never saw the great work that chavez was doing on the inside they only seemed to recongnise taylors flashy combos that were landing on the gloves of JCC a lot i had meldrick up by two rounds going into the 12th. a lot of US commentators say that MT won 10 out of the 12 rounds which is BULL****
I agree, though I had it a bit wider for Taylor based on the fact that he was landing two to one throughout the bout. I had it either 7-4 or 8-3. I might re-score it. Either way, Chavez definitely fought an excellent bout and was by no means outclassed. People are blind if they can't see what was going on in that ring. It was not a one-sided fight. One guy was landing more shots because of his speed, the other was landing the harder, more effective blows, and it showed in the end.
yeah by listening to the comentary you'd think chavez face would have been broken in a million peices
there was nothing wrong JCC. that cant be said for meldrick. he was pissing blood, ribs smashed up and eye socket smashed iN
