Meldrick Taylor offers to fight Gary Stretch in charity bout - says KNOCK ME OUT

****ing hell, on the "Legendary Nights" episode of "Chavez-Taylor", Meldrick seemed quite punchy and that was a few years ago. Charity fight or not, he shouldn't be doing this.

 

I'm sure whoever fights him will take it easy on him. Even though I agree he shouldn't even be allowed to spar with a headguard.

A truly sad tale is Taylors.

 

I once met Gary stretch in a little club in ramsey Isle of man which led me to meeting Micky Rourke who were both shooting a movie about Shergar. Strange weekend but true

 

How did Taylor and Stretch Get their beef?

Also, I assume the quote is mocked-up and Taylor doesn't actually post here?

 

Meldrick is a very sad case. It hurts me to hear he's walking around street corners in Philly in dirty robes and can hardly string a sentence together. Like Ishy said charity or not he should be nowhere near a ring. The guy is soo damaged. :verysad

Btw there's a book out on Meldrick, i think it's called "seconds from glory" and it's meant to be a great read.

The guy sounded like he could barely speak English anymore, he should not be allowed anywhere near a ring.

 

Why didn't the commission stop him from fighting?

I mean.... around a similar time to Taylor's last couple of fights Evander Holyfield lost his licence, then Riddick Bowe fought twice more not long after.

The difference between the three is massive. Holyfield sounds punchy but is clearly still all there - and is still capable of being competitive outside of Wlad.

Bowe and Taylor sound terrible, especially Taylor.

Taylor said to Gary Stretch - "If I were you, i'd get in that ****in' car and i'd get out of here man. I'd gather them goonies and get whatever you've got comin' mate... 'cause i'm gonna ****ing hit you all."

Look all Meldrick knows is fighting and he loves it, why should we stop him doing what he loves? Hes an adult he can make up his own mind.

I'd usually take that angle as well mate but Taylor is one of those fighters who needs protecting from himself.

He probably does, but if he has something like he has for boxing he needs to fulfill that or he will go off the rails IMO.
