Taylor hand speed was crazy. If his defense was just as good then I would give it to him without thinking twice, but being he can get hit and rather often. the fight could go either way.
LOL. It took a PRIME Chavez 11.5 rounds to break Taylor. Taylor's defense wasn't elite, but then again, it wasn't terrible either. In other words, he wasn't as easy to hit as Matthysse. But more importantly, Taylor had a very solid chin, and would be able to handle Garcia's power. Could Danny stun him once or twice? Yes, but he's not taking him out, therefore he's not winning, cause he sure as HELL ain't outboxing Taylor. I don't think a lot of you realize how good Taylor was. It took one of the greatest fighters to ever live to BARELY take out a prime Taylor. And Garcia folks, is no Chavez.
garcia is just about to rank above taylor. 'two more fights, we'll see what he does. certainly, garcia-matthysse was high level stuff. taylor would be taking some crispy left hooks and straight rights.
These posts are embarrassing, and I doubt any of you clowns even saw a prime Taylor fight. Watch what he did to McGirt. He was a league above Danny Garcia, and that's not to say Danny isn't a good fighter. But pre-Chavez, Taylor was special. Put it this way, prime Taylor vs Floyd at 140 would be a close fight. In fact, Taylor would have an EXCELLENT chance at beating Floyd.
This is'nt a mythical matchup for the general forum. That simple! Most posters here cant go back 10 years and be analytical about fighters of the closest era. I dont even consider Garcia an elite of his own era.
I think most of them are going off what they've heard about Taylor. Or for some reason, they seem to think beating Amir Khan't, and Matthysse equals beating Taylor. Garcia was having early problems with Khan's handspeed. How the **** does he handle Taylor's?
Garcia wins by raking Meldrick's eyes and punching him the balls +20 times, in complicity with the referee It worked the last time he faced a superior fighter, after all
Meldrick Taylor vs Danny Garcia At 140 before the 1st chavez fight taylor, taylor wins wide ud 9-3 maybe after the 1st chavez fight taylor, taylor gets ko'd badly before round 4
Even AFTER the first Chavez fight, Taylor moved up in weight and schooled the power punching, and then unbeaten Aaron Davis, who had just KO'd Mark Breland. So no, Garcia doesn't even beat the post-Chavez Taylor. Taylor didn't become officially shot until after he got destroyed by Norris. And that was simply a case of Mel being in with a man too big, and too powerful for him. Too good as well, as prime Norris was a great fighter. A lot of overrating of Danny Garcia going on here.
