No, I thought it was outrageous 20 years ago when I saw the fight live, and I still think so. Steele was in King's pocket, and Chavez was a King fighter. He stole Taylor's victory from him with probably the most outrageous stoppage I've ever seen.
For the 123,456,734,567,845,678,909,876..time! It was FAIR!!!! Chavez won, because he stopped Taylor within the 36 minutes of the fight!
bad stoppage all the way...there was less than 10secs on the clock and u stop the fight after he won damn near every rd... but meldrick won the battle that night but chavez won the war...he punched that man ******ed
I completely agree with you. Bottom line is that Taylor did not respond. You guys are making it seem like Steele just waved it off. NO, he asked Taylor and looked him right in the eye, but Taylor did not respond. Therefore he was beaten within the allowed fight time. Also, if Taylor would have won, the rematch would have happen immediately, not a few years later. And the outcome for taylor would have been the same, if not worse.
Taylor in post fight Interview: "He (Steele) didn't say anything to me, he didn't say are you okay..count, he didn't give me any direction" :rofl Taylor was KTFO indeed!!
bull**** stoppage. chavez got allt he lucky breaks. got beat easily by whitaker and then was given a gift draw only to lose to frankie randall out of all people lol.
Been done to death. Good stoppage. Even if it was questionable (which it isn't), Mosley-Mayorga kills any silly arguements against it.
mosley was gona win the fight on the cards regardless. chavez was not so that fight has nothing to do with this one. it was a bs stoppage
