Who do you got at 140 of course? Prime for prime in a thrilling fight between Kostya Tszyu and my boy Meldrick Taylor :bbb Taylor 39*(20)-7-1 This content is protected Kostya Tszyu 31(25)-2 This content is protected *Screw that fight. Taylor UD11 Chavez
Kostya Tyzu had loads of trouble with a young-speedy Zab Judah and although it was only for one round the difference was evident that I have a hard time thinking Tyzsu would have beaten speedy guys like Meldrick Taylor. I think the slickness, the speed, the elusive style of Taylor makes it nearly impossible for Tyzsu to find him with a right hand. Taylor would have out-boxed the robotic Tyzsu who probably spends 12rounds following him around waiting for a right hand that never shows up. Taylor by Decision
See Zab Judah fight, add on an extra 6 rounds. Taylor could win if he fought smart, but the man was either dumb, or arrogant enough to think he could fight his philly gym style with pros who are bigger and punching harder than he can. It infuriates me because he had all the physical tools to fight like a Pernell Whittiker (Maybe not to that same elite level, but it wouldn't be a cheap copy by any means) but instead he fought as I said, in that Philly gym war style which shortened his career drastically. Yeah he punches fast, but he shoe shines meaning he wouldn't have much chance of hurting Tszyu, who sooner or later would time him, and walk him into that right hand time and time again.
Makes me laugh people going on about the Judah fight, he won the first round so what ? Didn't particulary hurt Kostya and then got knocked out at the end of the second ( which Tszyu was winning ).He destroyed him. Tszyu is under-rated on here not over.
Forrest had slightly slower handspeed than Taylor, but much better power and massive reach; Tszyu clowned him in the amateurs. Timing can beat speed. Add to this Taylor's propensity to stand and trade and i see yet another career ending beating for brave Taylor.
This is a tough call. Both men have real stylistic strengths and weaknesses against the other. Tszyu was a master of timing and a huge puncher, plus Taylor didn't have the greatest defense and was apt to slug it out. With that said, Tszyu was also a fighter who liked things to be kept at his own pace, so that he could dictate the range to get off his better shots. Taylor could very well take the play away from him, fluster him, and overwhelm him with speed and volleys of punches. Both men are capable of stopping the other, I think, but I'd be more comfortable with favouring Taylor, as he seemed to have the greater mental resolve. Taylor TKO10.
Kostya did quite well again speedy boxers, not as well against guys that crowded him so he could not extend his punches. I see Taylor going well for a few rounds, Kostya starts to time him and land a few big shots, Taylor is not big on defence and would cop a shot that was to hard for him. Kostya's timing of speed was good.
