the thing about this is .. mancini was probably even slower then chavez .. and he was no where near the text book assasin chavez was with his abilitys...but he would give taylor one hell of a fight but would probably be busted up

Mancini was a dangerous puncher and possesed extreme toughness, however I do not think that he would have beaten Meldrick Taylor from the Buddy McGirt fight of 1988 through the Glenwood brown match of 1992. Taylor was extremely fast, well conditioned, focused and highly skilled during those years. He also had a very well developed physique that made him a solid Jr. welterweight / welterweight - something that Mancini wasn't. Julio Cesar Chavez was two or three leagues above Mancini in just about every category, and Taylor thorughly dominated him before suffering severe punishment very late, and succuming to the controversial stoppage that otherwise may have led to one of the biggest wins in history.

Taylor by an obscene wide decision or late stoppage on cuts.

I love Meldrick and like mancini alot...This is a tough one for me. Mancini is going to be all out come at you, something like hatton without any clutchi and grab. Taylor also loved an opportunity to stand and fight, which with his limited KO power probably won't play to his advantage. If taylor sticks and moves, counters and utilizes his superior movement and speed I would go with a nice comfortable decision...if he dicides to just step into a phone booth and slug away with ray, this becomes a much closer fight than it would need to be.

Anyway enough rambeling...meldrick's superior speed dominates the early rd's, with Ray being succesful at cutting off his movement later on and controlls much of the later rds. Meldrick in a close 8-4/7-5 decision...Over 15 I might change this to a Mancini decision.

Taylor had the skill to win a UD but Mancini was a tough puncher and had great heart could pull it out but Meldrick should be able to win a UD

Taylors quick hands make a mess of Boom Boom's face and Taylor wins by a TKO late or UD.

Mancini lands his fair share of shots and hangs tough, but in the end is simply outclassed by the skilled and speedy Taylor.

Meldrick wide ud possible late stoppage. He is too fast & catches Ray cleaner as the fight goes. Ray has some nice moments but is busted up.

This is a competitive fight, with Taylor getting hurt several times. His speed would win him the fight, though. Either by UD or late stoppage due to facial cuts.
