Meldrick Taylor vs Ricky Hatton

Subterranean 2 Stratospheric........such is the gulf of class between these 2, Taylor will obliterate Hatton, he'll be using ricky's face as a speedball & there'd be uproar after this massacre at the fact that Hatton was even allowed into the same ring as Taylor & it's just a speeded up version of Holmes/Cobb or Dokes/Gardiner.......as McVey said Hatton would look like Hamburger after 5 rounds as he has no defence except his face.

I can't recall which daily rag had about 14 shots of Gardiner on his way down titled Going! Going! Gone! & Dokes saying if thats the best heavyweight in Europe then when i retire from boxing i'am going to go over & fight in Europe

 

i was watching dokes stop wesley watson the other day and after the fight his manager was asked who they would be looking for next tyson was mentioned as was gary mason and frank bruno

 

Hatton would have been embarassed.

 

If Hatton uses his EXTREMELY underrated jab... to use as u say educated pressure and then goes for it he has a BIG chance.... Your all forgetting Hatton would manhandle little Meldrick with some comparative ease aswell... This could go either way

Well I am huge Meldrick phan (Its a PHILLY thing), and believe his quicknes would be the difference. I don't think it would be as easy as some on here make it sound though. Meldrick never had great power at 140, and I know people like to bash (no pun intended) Hatton's chin, I don't see him stopping Hatton except perhaps by cuts. Meldrick's warrior mentality and desire to mix it up even when he had the speed and skill to avoid those situations, would play into hatton's favor. Hatton may not apply pressure as educted or as skillfully as Chavez, but I believe he brought a much more intentional type of pressure and swarming. Taylor in a close decision 7-5 8-4 type

 

Chavez was a level or two above, but this is harsh.

At the top, exponential differences just don't exist. No fighter ever was 10 times as good as a former undisputed champ. It just doesn't happen, boxing is far to subtle a game.

 

Meldrick by wide decision.

As a Brit i've always followed Hatton's career, but he's vastly overhyped, and to me nowhere near the fighter Taylor was in his prime. To me, taylor was 15 seconds from building a career that would see him recognised as an ATG. He had the tools to go down in boxing history. I was gutted with that stoppage. Along with Nunn, he was a guy that was one result away from boxing history.

 

Hey, I love Chavez but not like that! I don't even drink or smoke so I wouldn't be in that situation.

 

I don't think Steele not stopping the fight would've made a difference. Chavez still had time to finish him ala Mosley-Mayorga and Taylor would've been ruined anyways. Chavez wasn't completely in a neutral corner from what I remember(I could be wrong) so he would've had a good shot at stopping him in that scenario. A rematch would've been made and I'm pretty sure Chavez would've won it but who knows? As far as Nunn, I think he would've ruined his career anyways especially when you take in account his drug problems & loss of focus in the ring.

 

There would not have been enough time for Chavez to even get to him let alone hit him

 

One punch is all it would've taken. It would be possible for Chavez to pull it off no matter how unlikely that sounds.
