2 high volume punchers. Surely this would go the distance but does Padilla manage to overcome Taylor’s blinding hand speed and make this very competitive, perhaps even outworking Taylor down the stretch?
Interesting matchup. If anybody could beat Taylor that way it would be Padilla. In this case you have Taylor being was so fast and in great condition. I don't think beating Medrick on volume alone is gonna be sufficient. Padilla would bring relentless pressure and activity but I don't think he brought the power to stop Taylor. Prime Mel would be right at home firing 4s and 5s at Zack. I think talent wins out here but Padilla was unique fighter.
Would be an excellent super-lightweight fight but Meldrick just a level above Padilla. I was impressed when Zack took undefeated puncher Carlos Gonzalez´s WBO title over 12 scintillating rounds and was gutted he had to retire after picking up a sparring injury against Sugar Shane Mosley. Meldrick took to pieces the classy Buddy McGirt, handled punchers like Primo Ramos (koed Frankie Randall years before he beat Chavez), John Meekins and was within 2 seconds from beating a peak Chavez. Meldrick on points in a punch-a-thon reminiscent of Zack´s fight with Ray Olivera.
Man what an interesting bout and Zack was definitely no slouch and beat many good boxers. Meldrick is faster for sure but Zack seemed to be able to adjust his style in multiple bouts against different opponents. Both throw punches in bunches and both have impressive stamina although I actually think Zack might have a slight advantage in that. I'm going to pick Taylor in a razor thin action packed bout that would have fans arguing over who really one.
