Very good fighter, lightning fast hands, terrific workrate, average power, okay defense.

Very brawl happy. He was always bound to be a shooting star IMO than a mainstay at the highest level. The WW division was loaded in talent during that era. He had some success at WW, beating Aaron Davis for a world title, but he was already undersized there, plus he had taken a lot of physical punishment against Chavez.

His best performances were McGirt and Chavez 1. Also worth watching are his bouts with Perez, Davis, and Brown.

    Those pitter-patter combinations were blazing!

On the real, I've always found him to be overrated, but there's no question he was a very difficult matchup in his prime. A lack of any real finesse is what cost him in the long run.

Taylor was also a very good bodypuncher. I think he actually had decent pop when he put more behind his shots. He often would sacrifice power and throw arm shots, he'd throw them fast and in bunches but without leverage.

He's punch drunk and braindead these days. Truly tragic.
