Chavez won the fight by TKO - it was a legit stoppage, no question.

You can't expect the ref to look at the clock and say, "oh, but he was doing so well, I'll give it to him, even though he is completely out of it..".

Leonard vs Benitez was stopped in the last few seconds, also. Sure, Leonard was gonna get the decision, but the ref stopped the fight rather than let the clock tick down those last few. The ref isn't the person who should make the decision as to who he thinks might be winning or losing the fight at the moment of the stoppage - his job is to end it as soon as it's obvious he can't continue. He could have let Benitez continue and let it go to the score cards, but he stopped it right there and that was the right decision.

Taylor was doing great most of that fight, but it was his own fault for trying to mix it up. Maybe Duva should have had half a brain and told him to box and stay the **** away, because Chavez was really coming on strong and hurting him the last 1/3rd of the fight. People can blame the ref, but how about Duva and Taylor? Don't they deserve the blame for being stupid and losing the fight? The ref isn't the one who kicked the **** out of Taylor.. it was Chavez, and he got the victory he deserved.

this isnt really helping your case. it was stopped because leonard was going to win anyway. taylor was way ahead in 2 of the scorecards and even if he was knocked down twice in the final round, he would have still won a decision. sometimes, you have to reward a fighter for doing well for 11 rounds and being careless in the last one. as i've said, if it was 20 seconds, the fight should have been stopped, no question. nut since it was just 2 secs, the ref should have let taylor continue.

2 seconds... people say thats enough time for Chavez to hit him.. it's not.

The ref would have to hand check him, and that would take up two seconds before Chavez would even be allowed to touch him.

Meldrick robbed of a victory IMO.

I repeat, a fight is not over until the last second runs out. It is not pro football, in which the dominant team gets the win even if there is time on the clock.

Taylor did not respond so he was beaten inside of the twelve rounds. Plain and simple.

OK BUT LETS SAY HE SAID"IM OK.." DID HE DESERVE THOSE 2 SECONDS?

Once again I've been boxing for 9 years..I think he deserved the 2 seconds....I've been inside of a ring tired and 2 seconds is alotta time yet if you run (strategic) than you can avoid 1 punch...ESPECIALLY IF YOUR CLEARLY AHEAD ON THE SCORECARDS!!:hat

Richard Steel waves his hands at 4 seconds. Chavez was in the corner to the direct left. Steele would of then had to of hand checked Taylor, then look for Chavez and then tell them to fight.

Chavez had no time to hit him. None.

Jim Lampley clearly stated that there was 5 seconds left. "unbelievable! unbelievable! Richard Steele has stop the fight with 5 seconds to go!"

Watch the video, clearly he waves his hands as 5 ticks to 4. Which means 4 seconds left.

I totally agree that if Taylor had said he wanted to continue then he should've have been allowed.

Look at it this way, Richard Steele repeatedly asked him if he wanted to continue and he did not respond. Therefore it would be unethical if the ref pushed him to fight.

A controversy in itself. Don't you agree?
