    Meehan finished strongly and many thought he had done enough. Split decision. All 3 judges had it close.

    "Although he lost in a controversial split decision to Lamon Brewster, it is widely believed that Meehan should have been awarded the WBO crown - and the chance to fight Holyfield.

    The brutal beating he gave Brewster in the eighth round left his opponent unfit to defend his title for two months.

    "I feel I won and a lot of other people think I got robbed against Brewster but that fight is in the past and I'm only concentrating on my next fight," Meehan said

    Daniel Geale's first overseas fight was something special. Beating IBF titleholder Sebastian Sylvester in his German homeland. A place best known for hometown decisions.

    So close and yet so far away. You get the decision and you are a world champion and later a former world champion for the rest of your life. The judges rule against you are you are just another fighter and after that just another former fighter.

    Add Sam Soliman's brilliant win this morning to the list here. What a performance to beat the reigning IBF champion Felix Sturm in his home country and so emphatically on the cards 118-110, 118-110 and 117-111.

    Soliman's effort in winning his first world title in Germany at age 40 is a remarkable performance. In both fights over there against Sturm all 3 judges awarded him the fight.

    Great win by Soliman. He also put up a very respectable showing against Winky Wright overseas years ago.

    Looks like we have some potentially great overseas fights involving Aussies to look forward to with Geale vs Golovkin and Fletcher vs Jacobs made, and Golovkin seemingly keen to fight Soliman if he gets past Geale :good
