Toney didn’t train properly, not that it would’ve made a difference. Toney realized he couldn’t match Roy’s speed so he decided to be defensively responsible. Meanwhile, Roy fought cautiously out of respect for a crafty Toney.

He still got schooled for 12 rounds though. Toney didn't win a round.

You’re right. No shame in that though. Neither fighter did much and both went on to have HOF careers. Lots of good fighters, many with belts, idolize James Toney.

Yeah most definitely. Wasn't shading Toney at all - HOF & ATG for sure, just stating my opinion.

That’s just how popular Kelly Pavlik was at the time ...if you wanna know what it would have been like if Gerry Cooney had knocked out Larry Holmes see Pavlik vs Taylor

Of course there was shame in getting shutout by Roy Jones - lots of it. Toney was the bigger man, rated slightly higher at #2 P4P and a small favorite. He was also a big, big, big talker. Getting totally schooled was humiliating for him.

I used to think so too. However, I recently rewatched the fight and recognized LOTS of respect from both fighters at the final bell. It was in difficult to hear audio, when both fighters are walking between corners, shaking hands with the other corner, and waiting on the official decision.

That still doesn't make it a less than humiliating loss. People still thrust it forward again and again even now when attacking or assessing Toney. It's the best known moment of his career i would think.

de la Hoya vs Mayorga, bitter sweet and shut your mouth.

Buster Douglas vs Mike Tyson, biggest upset in boxing history.

Fury vs Wilder I & II, Wilder should of hired Fury as his coach to learn how to box after the first fight. Fury clowned around in the first fight and made a mockery of Wilder's ability, anybody who thinks either of those fights were close, I'm sorry to say but you know nothing about boxing and the sweet science. How was he not found out before. 2nd fight Fury did his job.

Ruiz vs Joshua I, hype job found out, first time away from refs protecting him and he is exposed, pity Ruiz partied for the rematch, he'll never get the 3rd.

McCullough vs Prince Nassem, run little mouse. McCullough went up two weights and robbed the Prince of his bravado.

    McCall vs Lewis, boom.

Sanders vs Wlad, modern heavies take notes how to deal with a chinny heavy. This and the Brewster fight actually created an ultra defensive monster.

Mayweather vs Hatton, thanks everybody backing Hatton, I won a fortune on Mayweather his odds were unreal.
