Agreed. I was wondering why the rematch would be considered embarrassing at first. But yeah, the fact that the bigger, faster man in his prime (with a reputation for being a mean badass on top of it) was scared to mix it up with a past prime Welterweight is pretty embarrassing, too.

Oscar DelaHoya losing to Felix Trinidad. Thought he had a shot to be a top tier all time great fighter before that. Excuses were made but last time I check it wasn't his job to score fights. It was his job to fight the fight. A Mexican American running from a Puerto Rican? Humiliation

I like this one. There's a back story to this as well.

We’ll have to agree to disagree on the degree of humiliation in losing a shutout decision versus prime Roy. A more humiliating loss for Toney, one he’s very widely known for, is the loss to Randy Couture.

Do you think Holmes beating Mercer was worse than Ferguson beating Mercer? Mercer was one fight away from a $2.5 million payday against Bowe. He took Ferguson lightly and resorted to bribing him mid fight. Ferguson wasn’t having it, won by decision, and followed up with a KO by 2 against Bowe.

Yes. I want to know this too. Feel like I vaguely recall it although there was a back story to a few Norris fights.

Mercer beats Holmes and gets a shot at Holyfield, possibly. Or maybe Holmes got the title shot because of his name. Man was that a great time to be a part of heavyweight boxing or what?!?!

We will definitely agree to disagree. It was his biggest fight ever and watched by millions, he was P4P #2, he was fighting a guy moving up from 160 and he was favored. He was basically shut out.

I'd bet any money Toney himself felt humiliated with his own performance.

This isn't coming from a Toney detractor either. Maybe it's just me but i don't think it can be debated from any reasonable perspective.
