Can we discuss this amazing ShoBox main event coming up May 11th?? All of the press that I hear is on Haney but Mason Menard is a very formidable 135 pounder going up against a 19 year old. He'll be in camp in Houston with Errol Spence, the Charlos and Rob Brant so don't give me any crap about the pedigree of the Mayweather gym in Vegas. I think this is too much of a step up for Haney way too soon. Consider this Eudy Bernardo part 2 throwing Mason back into the mix at 135. If Haney can beat Menard at 19, he really is worth getting hyped about. Very difficult to tell how this is going to go. Haney has never fought anyone near this level before
Mason Menard reminds me of Cody Garbrandt. It must be his name. Haney beats him with relative ease. He's sparred with way better fighters than Menard.
I think menard is very under rated. Up until now he has basically been training himself. Not to mention not having any credible sparring partners up until recently.
In good friends with mason. Would you guys like for me to do an interview and what questions would you like to ask?
Yeah, ask him if Beltran was better and tougher than he thought, and if he is insulted by a team seeing him as a steppingstone for a teenager.
Just spoke with mason. He said he really can't answer about Beltran because he wasn't himself that night. Was very off his game with weight cut trouble no sparring. He knew he was tough. As for as the haney thing goes he said its all good. All in the sport of boxing. He is ready to go for this fight. Since his surgery he stayed true to his diet and is already at weight. He's got quality sparring and trainers. I think everyone will be surprised with him for this fight.
