Make a list of the boxers who you think have the ability to mentally destroy their opponents. And also a list of the mentally weakest boxers.
Usyk (friendly disarmament, pedigree is intimidating) Fury (physical & verbal intimidation, cant be intimidated , friendly disarmament) Pacquiao (friendly disarmament) Chisora (can't be intimidated, slight screw loose) Errol Spence - Cold blooded operator fantastic pedigree. Terence crawford - Cold blooded operator fantastic pedigree
Fury projects insecurity. He masks it with cheekiness and bravado. I think he wanted to be a lounge singer but the hyper masculine gypsy culture squashed his dreams. He turns to cocaine and Greggs as a crutch.
Tyson Fury is mentally fragile - drugs, fight cancellations, obesity Fighters who are afraid to leave home country to fight and use dodgy referees (Andre Ward) are mentally weak Usyk is mentally strong - fights on road, never lacks confidence also Golovkin, Lomachenko
Mentally strong I would say Pac. He's had defeats that people would say he was "ruined" if it was another fighter but just keeps going. Mentally weak I would say Kovalev. Ward who is also very mentally strong folded him like a cheap chair.
Ofc, his "mental strength". Kovalev's lifestyle and out of the ring habits are the biggest issues, not his mental strength.
Don’t confuse having a mental illness as being mentally weak. The human mind is extremely complex. Fury may have demons with his bipolar etc, but he’s also extremely mentally strong. He has supreme confidence and a will of iron. He did a complete psyche job on Wlad. He came back from a 3 year lay off where he shed a huge amount of weight before fighting Wilder whilst being nowhere near 100% cent. After almost being knocked out at the end of the fight, he then got up and started firing back. He then rematched Wilder shortly afterwards. If he was mentally weak, he’d never have gone to Germany and fought and beaten Wlad. If he was mentally weak, he would never have come back into the sport after his long lay off. If he was mentally weak, he’d have stayed on the canvas from Wilder’s left hook and just collected his cheque. If he was mentally weak, he’d never have rematched the guy who nearly knocked him out shortly afterwards. If he was mentally weak, he wouldn’t be pursuing fights with Wilder and AJ. Those are not the actions of someone who is mentally weak. Yes, the guy has serious mental health issues. But he is not, and never has been, mentally weak, in the sense of lacking confidence/belief himself, and having a questionable heart etc. In some aspects, he has huge mental strength. He has the ability to gain psychological advantages over his opponents, in the way that Ali used to. Audley Harrison is an example of someone who was mentally weak. He had talent, but no confidence or belief in his abilities, which made him crumble under pressure.
