I personally wouldn't want to see Tyson lower himself into doing MMA matches, but the fact still remains. Mercer is 49 years old and was able to knockout a top 10 MMA Heavyweight with one punch and made it look easy, so could Tyson who just turned 43? Tyson said it himself, because of the condition he has, he admitted that once he's in the gym he trains like a mad man. So thats say Tyson gets down to about 230, which was roughly what he was for his last couple fights at Heavyweight before he retired, do you see Iron Mike coming in being able to knockout some of the best the MMA has to offer or do you feel he's too washed up now to make a even a dent?

Yes, but Kimbo cant put together his punches the way a Tyson or Mercer can. I guess Ray's knockout win had me thinking how much money the UFC or whatever other MMA organization can generate by setting Tyson up with some matches, god knows Tyson could use the money. And like several other washed up former Good/Great Heavyweights, why not make some money off your name going up against decent to good MMA fighters who cant take a punch?

If he fights someone who tries to stand and trade with him like a moron, then yes he can do it. Assuming his opponent decides to take him down, then no he can't.

Who on earth would be so stupid in MMA to stand up and trade punches with Tyson?

Cro Cop might relentlessly boot him in the head, but not many people would stand with him.

Think about it...theres a whole lot more $$$ in boxing..and if these MMA guys could do it well enough they'd come over to boxing and cash in...but they know they would have no chance. So instead we see old washed up boxers coming over to their sport to make a few $$$.

Well they don't specialise in boxing, and most have taken it up as a secondary thing after specialising in something else. So at the age they'd be starting you can't expect them to make it. Just like you can't really expect them to win Olympic wrestling if they're not a wrestler and just use wrestling for MMA purposes.

MMA is not boxing and never will be. A bum only needs to rush like a bull , go for a takedown during the clinch and game over.

Mercer koed Sylvia in 9 seconds for a good reason. Sylvia is a dumb egocentric *******. Prior to the fight , he was saying that he'd beat the guy with his striking. Better yet , the fight was originally supposed to be under boxing rules.

    that's how deluded Sylvia is.

Sylvia could've ridiculed mercer pretty muche like Kimbo did (by mma standards kimbo is a bum btw) Ironically the ranked fighter couldn't get the job done. But his ego got in the way.

If Fedor Emelianenko would be dumb enough to "test" his striking abilities against a professional boxer , he'd also get owned. MMA rules enables grapplers to dominate. If they're not smart enough to take the fight on the ground , where it's at their advantage....so be it....****'em.

But any fighter , who's got basics in grappling , and fights intelligently. (taking zero risks and not trying to beat a boxer at his own game) , will have all the chances in the world on his side. And the boxer will only have a puncher's chance.

I'm happy for Mercer though. i'd hate to see him get the beating of his life especially at his age. Imagine a guy of Lesnar's size throwing him around the cage like a rag doll...it would be horrible.

**** Sylvia ! Fedor perfectly understood this in his fight against him...and he also took advantage of it. It took fedor less time to finish Sylvia than he did against Hong man choi. (and Man choi is not ranked)

they obviously wouldn't have a chance because most aren't even boxers to begin with. Most originally have a wrestling , judo , jiujitsu background...not even an amateur boxing record.

Why not ? Sylvia did it against Mercer...I know it's ****ing stupid , but you're underestimating the stupidity and pretentiousness of some of these guys...

Sylvia is one of them. Arlovski is also one of them. So is Sokoudjou....

Originally Arlovski is supposed to be a mother ****ing Sambo artist...and yet , the guy tries to box under mma rules...Sokoudjou....He's supposed to be a Judoka....but whenever he's fighting , he never pulls any judo throws and looks like utter **** on the ground. Go figure...

Tyson would be just like Tyson. Win some and lose some. He is old and not 100% committed. Sometimes he'll be taken down and sometimes he'll land the big one. No point embarassing himself.

Tyson was offered to fight MMA several times, and every time he turned it down. Bob Sapp, Rick Roufus and Royce Gracie at different times in his career were offered up to fight Tyson, and it never happened.

Tyson was also man handled and pushed back in the cinch more than once in his career

This does't spell good for faceing wrestlers.

It doesn't bother you that the striking of mma is 10x inferior to boxing?

Brandon Vera couldn't beat Sylvia with his striking.

You and the majority of the mma community could not beat Tim even on your best day.

    And you know why?

Cause you ain't never won a Olympic gold metal or a hw boxing championship.:hi:
