Does anyone have Mercer in their top 50 heavyweights list? I have him at exactly number 50. Finally got two days off work! As I am a very sad man, living abroad, I would like to spend a couple of hours watching a few of Mercer's best fights, having enjoyed his match with Lewis. Without spoilers.. Anyone care to suggest a bout or two? (preferably available on YouTube or a viable alternative... although there is a good chance my crappy memory or the video title may spoil it for me anyway...). I'd rate them in this order for entertainment. 1 Bert Cooper 2 Lennox Lewis 3 Tommy Morrison 4 Tim Witherspoon 5 Larry Holmes 6 Evander Holyfield 7 Francesco Damiani That's pretty much all of his most well known entertaining fights. I believe the 2nd Jesse Ferguson fight was quite good aswell might be worth revisiting.
Brilliant. Great fight, didn't expect that Really. Thought Mercer would club him to defeat in around four round. What a war.
When he was in the mood Mercer was a very dangerous fighter. A post prison Tyson would of been awesome.
While I love this fight, every time I re-watch it I wonder why Mercer kept following Holmes right into that corner. Where was his corner? Where was someone to tell him "STOP FOLLOWING HIM INTO THE CORNER."
