Larry was more than 'pretty good,' EA, he was a HELLUVA football player. The fiercest defensive back in NY. Got a scholarship to Oklahoma, the biggest football powerhouse in the nation.

There's more than a little fire under the snow on the roof.

My favorite is when V Klitscko hammered completely overweight Kirk Johnson into submission in R2:

    And that whale is harpooned!!!

    You gotta love the guy!

He also muffed that dude during a post fight conference. He's a tough old *******.

People who hate Larry Merchant are probably satanists who need to be taken out back and shot in the sack (or if they're a girl..shot in the you know..).

    JMO of course

One time he was giving a break down of the top guys in the heavydivision and he was using a chess board as a metaphor for the heavy divion and he started calling different fighters different pieces. He was saying **** like "rahman is the rook and wladimir is the knight" and basically named each of the top guys as a different piece.

Im sure it all made sense in his mind but his point was lost on me:lol:

 Larry is such a ****. He brings ups Lewis' 2 KO losses and he brought up Roy Jone's KO losses before too.

I dont remember the exact quotes but it basically came down to some guy was KOed in the ring and merchant suggests for Lewis to comment on what it is like to get KOed as he has experience in that.

My favorite lineup will always be Merchant with Foreman. Those two are so diametrically opposed --the drunk analyst and the puncher -- pure chemistry.

Merchant is bad ass. Really looking forward to the next time he is on. Hoping that he will be on Wlads card in December.

He is a great journalist and commentator, i love him.

Some of you guys have a problem with the HBO staff. Who would you like to take over their jobs if you were to pick the new team? Al Bernstein? Bert Sugar? Name some good ones.

by far my favourite merchant gem is in the douglas tyson fight "this makes cynderella look like a sad story" ****ing priceless......that and "this is the primal beauty of boxing" durring the first erik morales Marco Antonio Barrera, which as far as I'm concerned summed up the appeal of the sport.

Max Kellerman is an idiot. They guy always try to make these great one liners that over hypes a minor event. It is like every punch is a history in the making or small tactical change is genius beyond compare.
He tries to be important too hard.
