This just about sums up my feelings on last night.

    MERCHANT

Put simply, Larry Merchant EVT4 Floyd Mayweather. Merchant is what, 80 years old? He puts a question about the cheap shot KO to a guy who has just won by cheap shot KO, and gets faced down and a mouthful of personal abuse. It was absolutely legendary the way Merchant wasn't remotely fazed or scared, laughed, then told Floyd if he was 50 years younger, he'd kick his ass, right in front of that man-***** Ellerbe and the rest of Floyd's ass-kissers. Glorious

    CORTEZ

How many more times is this senile, incompetent clown going to get given a big fight? It's one calamitous error after another with this ancient relic. Telling boxers to box on... and then turning away from the action to talk to the timekeeper?! That's a mistake that a referee wouldn't make on his ****ing debut, it's so goddamned basic.

If Mayweather had headbutted Ortiz and knocked him out, that old fool wouldn't have known it - then where would we have been? This shambolic incompetent must be struck off now.

    ORTIZ

He seemed to have the strength and the conditioning, but he didn't use them. And neither he nor his trainer seemed to possess the nous to adjust and stop getting hit with the same punch (straight right) every few seconds. Victor did not throw enough combinations, didn't go to the body enough, didn't pressure Floyd enough. A poor performance all round. He did not go down with all guns blazing as I thought he would. The headbutt was bizarre and ridiculous, naive to the point of insane. With a stricter ref, he could've been DQ'd for such a dangerous, rash foul. Then he compounds that stupidity by leaving himself open to a cheap shot from a guy we've all seen land cheap shots before, on Gatti and on Mosley. All in all, a dismal night. Ortiz may be ready for this level one day, but he certainly wasn't ready for it tonight.

    MAYWEATHER

Has a fighter ever landed more big-fight cheap-shots than this guy? Gatti, Mosley, now Ortiz. Sportsmanlike conduct clearly isn't a priority at the 'Mayweather Boxing Club'. Floyd was performing brilliantly and starting to dominate the fight before Ortiz's idiotic butt, he could simply have turned the screw and beat him down afterwards, after allowing Cortez to discipline Ortiz. But Floyd being Floyd didn't want to trust the official to dispense justice, and went for a sneaky cheap shot instead, which was disappointing yet understandable in this instance. Difficult to criticize a guy too strongly for retaliating after an unprovoked headbutt, but still an unsavoury and unsatisfying end to what could have been a stellar whitewash performance. And of course, Mayweather acted like a spoiled baby and embarrassed himself in the post-fight interview. Still, he looked as good as ever in the fight. When is this guy going to start showing signs of decline?! Handspeed, reflexes and power were superb as ever.

I don't ever want to see Cortez ref for important fights again. I don't like how Amir was looking over at him for help as Rene tried to whale away.

Looks like Floyd may be the best dirty fighter as of now.

Cortez is a disgrace. Ortiz isn't mentally strong enough to deal with Mayweather. It was an illegal blow that won the fight. But at the end of the day Mayweather was totally dominant.

Word up. I was enjoying the fight though. I got the impression Ortiz was being tentative in early rounds to save energy.
