    I almost wish Hopkins did it. Floyd blowing up at Merchant just makes it seems like he's picking on Larry, when in reality, it really is vice versa and has been for years. Hopkins would have had a lot more tact and wit expressing himself and it wouldn't be all this backlash.

    If Larry was 34, and in Floyd's shoes...I see Larry doing the same thing...two piecing Victor, probably stand over him and call him a little snot.

    I'm not so sure about the Mayweather 'whitewash' to come. I thought Floyd was getting rattled by Ortiz bulling him into the ropes and getting off shots, and I thought the evening was going to get harder and harder for Floyd as the night went on. It was going to be a good fight and Floyd was going to get tested, imho. I think Floyd knew it and that's why he did what he did.

    Merchant = Hateful (he was cutting Mayweather while May was thanking God & the people)
    Cortez = Poor (Undeserved blame,as the action was a split second too fast)
    Ortiz = Fool (1st for the headbutt, 2nd for that hug and kiss, and 3rd for taking his eyes away from the opponent{-i just remember that scene with Bruce Lee and a Kid in Enter The Dragon)
    Floyd = Sneaky Smart

    I dont like the majority of what you write and have been disgusted by some things you have done, but this is actually very similar to how I felt on this subject.
    Good post

    Merchant did more damage to Floyd than Ortiz.

    Lacking class is a better one for Mayweather.

    What do you think would have happened if Cortez was looking? Floyd would have clocked Ortiz and Ortiz would have gone down. Cortez would have counted Ortiz out and we would have the same result. There is NOTHING in the rules of being a referee that dictates that you must call time in before you tell the fighters to engage. Cortez did a great job last night. He did exactly what he was supposed to do, regardless if you think he should have done something different. Floyd was completely in his rights to hit Ortiz when he did, Cortez was completely in his rights to look away and call the fight the way he did, and Larry was mostly in his rights to react the way he did.

  14. Excellent post, somes up how i feel myself.

    My annoyance at Mayweather and Cortez is matched only by my disbelief at the naieve child-link behaviour of Ortiz. A hug and a kiss mate, wtf you playing at?

    The **** he did. Cortez was supposed to break them cleanly and clearly, then re-engage them cleanly and clearly with at least a couple steps between them before he restarts the action. At that time, he's supposed to have his eyes on the fighters AT ALL TIMES.

    Cortez ****ed up, and BADLY. Mayweather took advantage of his ****up to land a couple sucker punches and get out of a rough fight the easy way. End of.
