Well done to Dib he fought the way he had to win, he seems to know when to go for the kill since he came back from overseas.
As is yours Dale, we await your 40 yr old debut Champ! hahaha if they even let you box again that is, oh noooooooooooooooooo did i just crush your dream old man? lol SNAP!
You know how much MMA I watch? I'm not out to hate or belittle MMA for the sake of it. There have been some great fights. I watch it all via stream for free. I've watched just about every show, or as much as I can of each show. I've also basically done the same with boxing for the last few years. Most weekends I watch what is available if anything is on. For me, on average out of everything I've watched, the quality of the fights on boxing shows far outweighs the quality of the fights on MMA shows. And probably always will. For all the talk about MMA...there is still not a lot of elite fighters that fight on a regular basis. The UFC promotes all its main events as if the guys are monsters, but lets face it Joe Rogan could sell **** to a sewerage treatment plant. He does really well shining up some pretty average fighters, but then again a majority of the fan base wouldn't be that worried. Most of them look happy to be off their chops in the crowd and probably don't know or in the long run really care who is fighting. One thing I noticed about the crowd for the Dib fight is there was a fairly large mainstream contingent i.e. people who probably wouldn't usually go to boxing shows. Lots of young females and a lot of them are leaving Billy adoring messages on Facebook. A pretty good result and definite positive for the future. A fight against Chris John in Sydney in the future will be huge!
The comments that I have highlighted can easily, very easily be attributed to boxing more so than MMA.
Its been a cracking 3 years for boxing. Non stop great fights. I wish the same could be said for the MMA I've watched over the last 3 years. If anything it has digressed, and big time at that, since about UFC 100. Horses for courses though. I've been a boxing fan for 36 years. I don't think I'm biased but don't put me to the test ey.
I'm a big fan of both sports but in recent years I've just enjoyed the MMA fights/cards more. I will always follow boxing though.
Im a huge fan of boxing, know a fair bit about mma but am not really a fan. I agree with Francis boxing is shooting itself in the foot these days stripping legit world champs galore and sanctioning joke world title bouts like Dib vs Lacierva. Plus unfortunately whether boxing people like it or not mma get most of their big fights together. Boxing on the other hand dont always these days!
