Big fan here and sometimes opponents bend into the shot, bend low or turn away forcing a legal shot to land illegally, but Gamboa lands behind the head far too often to call it an accident. Keep it clean Yuri, the opportunities will come and punish opponents with hard legal shots to the head if they bend low or turn away not by a rabbit punch. Let the ref handle the situation. He's also a bit overexcited with the finish and he's lucky nothing serious landed while Solis was going down, action must stop once the opponent is helpless and kness hit the canvas, the rest is up to the ref. Gamboa is a very nice guy always giving his opponents respect and looking for the fans to be entertained, he could be that expolosive, lethal good guy figure, but not with these rabbit punches. Good job improving pro skills, now it's time to decrease some dirty tactics that are not only bad for the opponent but bad for himself. Keep it clean Yuri and keep up with the good work, and you'll go far! :happy
I think he and JML both do this, just from being young and anxious and on seek and destroy mode. I don't like it either.
Juanma does it too and it pisses me off. Gamboa needs to stop. After the last kockdown gamboa threw another shot and i was like nooooooooooo!!!!!!!!
He fought an exceptionally dirty fight last night. Even with the final knockdown, he was applying downed shots to Solis' body and anywhere else he could land. I don't recall him fighting this dirty in the past. He had some kind of meth rage going on. Gamboa's still a knockout waiting to happen.
Message to boxers: stop putting your head down and playing a 'now you can't hit me because I'm only offering up a spot deemed illegal' game. If your defense is just ducking and drilling the crown of your head into somebody's chest, and they are wailing away on you and hit the back of your head then BFD.
He also leans on guys when they duck under punches which can even negate his own offense. JuanMa does that too. Could be an exciting, yet slightly ugly and foul filled fight if and when these two meet up in the ring.
Yeah that's kinda how I feel. If you try to grab and clinch then put your head on their shoulder and turn it away or bend over and put your head that low you're asking to get it to the back of the head. Still shady but it happens
These boards are pretty popular inside boxing circles and Gamboa is picking up English. Even if not him I bet someone in his team or around him will get the message, from here or from somewhere else. I'm pretty positive he'll hear criticism in the upcoming days and hope he does something about it. And that's the whole purpose of this.
