Floyd, by the rules, was allowed to hit Ortiz, but by the unwritten codex, unsportsmanlike, little else to add to the ending. It must be said however, and I rooted for Ortiz and feel sorry it had to end that way, next time don't bull-rush with your head (other ref could've DQ'd you right there) and then you don't have to be apologetic, plus pay more attention, your opponent, fair or unfair, pulled that with Gatti before. It's a fight, expect the unexpected.

I don't like Floyd but sorry Vic's, it's on you: next time follow the rules and expect the opponent to do everything by the book, in other words, protect yourselves at all times. It's a boxing match.

Merchant was very classless. You don't go and disrespect an athlete like that. If anything, Floyd's action was unsportsmanlike but legal, Ortiz' headbutt however illegal and intentional, yet you could see Larry's heart was with Vic. He's a classy commentator on his good days, but a bitter old drunk on his bad.

He didn't do anything illegal but was very sportsman like and neither was vic with the head butt. The first warning shot would have been enough to say two can play that game.

Floyd was dirty and clearly that was his intentions when he look at Cortez looking away and snuck his first punch in. The sad part this is legal and Ortiz will learn from this.

Actually Floyd should have been allowed to kick him when he was on the ground and maybe Ellerbe jump in as well.

It was not a warning shot as far as Floyd was concerned, it was fight back on. From the looks of it Ortiz could've raised his hands before the 2nd punch came, but he looked at the clueless ref instead, 2nd mistake. Wasn't pretty but wasn't against the rules either. Looking back at it Ortiz must realize it was a situation that could've been avoided simply by not headbutting Floyd.

Ortiz should have got his hands up after the first shot. But if Floyd felt it was fight back on. Should not have hugged and gone straight for the kill sending out a message that the apologies are over so stop stalling.

Mayweather haters gonna hate regardless. But lets be honest here the fight was BACK ON. It's Ortiz instigated this sh!t and it was Ortiz who was not paying attention.

he did something dirty expect something back, if that was me I would have head butt his straight back.

Money did the same thing to Mosely when he wanted to hug all the damn time it's not a hugging contest. Lets get it on!

That's fair. As a pro vic should have expected it especially after he started it with the head butt. Nothing illegal about what he done and vic and his team weren't complaining much as are probably looking for a rematch. Which will end with a floyd win.

Ortiz is an idiot. He deserved that. I do feel sorry for him, though.
