Not sure, he clearly told me Margarito was not fighting this year. I wonder how much communication he has with Margo.

I think that is how Robert feels. He mentioned how since Roach has taken over a guy the improvement from fight to fight is just not there including:

Chavez-does not use his range, size, advantage, looked sloppy against Zbik, looked even worse against Lyell.

Khan-has an amateur boxing style and looks very beatable.

Vanes-got hurt against a guy that has no business being in the ring with him.

It really does, I asked Robert if he works with Rios on head movement and defense and he said "yes, in the gym Brandon does" but that in the fights getting hit is what gets him going. Robert said that Brandon is one of those guys that needs to get hit to get into the fight. That might explain why he is such a slow starter.

It's hard to REALLY put him up there after letting Margo stay in and nearly end his career for the sake of Machismo. He should have never let Margo take that sort of beating with a broken orbital, no matter how tough that dude is.

Would you rather it was a Mosley type of fight??

Margarito said it on the 24/7. Un Mexicano muere en la raya.

I dont think Margarito would have been happy with the stoppage either. Lets face it Margarito was coming forward all 12 rounds. Had he started taking steps back and just covering up I could see a stoppage being justified but he kept pushing forward man.

I think Ariza might have to do alot with Roachs success. I still think hes one of the best, but Garcia isnt far behind either. For crazy conditioning and offense Id pick Roach, but for a complete fighter Id pick Garcia or Uncle Rog. Id just pay Uncle Rog with crack.

I understand self-preservation isn't the top concern when a real gritty Mexican fighter is in the ring, and I'm absolutely not implying a Mosley type performance was preferable, but even if he was coming forward it was still coming forward into a fist and that wasn't likely going to change. Whether your fighter hates you for doing it or not, he should have been looking out for his health. Manny wasn't going to put him out clean. I think I "get it", but it wasn't doing his career any favors by risking it like that. He would never be getting his chance to prove it was him that beat Cotto fairly in 08 if his eye was perma-****ed, ya know?
