You can debate who has produced the greater fighters all you want but in head to head competition between Mexican Champs and PR champs we have consistently beaten them the greater # of times. Overall we have the greater quality boxers. They have one over us, Sanchez over Gomez will forever be hard to swallow, however to date they have never produced a fighter with the ability of a Wilfredo Benitez. I also believe Ortiz was greater than Chavez. Their greatest Sanchez ours Ortiz and the beat goes on.
There's about a million New Yoricans for every Project, and theirs like 1000 projects, and that's just in the South Bronx. Now, why is it that PR's always include their Phillyricans and Newyoricans, but they don't include Mexican Americans in these comparisons?
This is such a worthless way to compare qulaity. Because PR's will defend their titles in PR against a MX cab driver and you guys boast about it.:-( How about we compare Mexico's best to PR's best in championship fights?
thats says nothing either ok let me try Sanchez beat Gomez, but Gomez beat Zarate and Pintor and Gomez at one point was called el verdugo de los Mejicanos. Ortiz vs which Mexican great? Benitez vs which Mexican great? you see its futile Hey can I claim Manny Pac? it all means nothing what counts right now is Cotto vs Margo and a great rivalry.
Cristian Mijarez is a better boxer and fighter than Cotto. Juan Manuel Marquez is recognized as the best Mexican boxer today and one of the finest tacticians around, AND ranks higher p4p than Cotto. Mexico's ATGs are better than PR's best. :freddy
PR I must say from an unbiased POV has the best fighters per capita in the history of Boxing. There seems to be a bias against them as compared to Mexican fighters though. Most of them are loathed like Camacho, Benitez for their flashy styles only now do we appreciate their greatness. I would say that both have benefited from their proximity to the states and access to good training..unlike in Asia or South America
Your Missing out on De La Hoya, Bobby Chacon, Johnny Tapia, Michael Carbajal, Canizales bro's, Tony Ayala Jr., Fernado Vargas, Art Aragon, Jesse James Leija, Genaro Hernadez, Roberto Garcia, Juan Diaz, Raul Marquez, Mando Ramos, Ruelas Bro's ect.... I say With Chicano's Mex is #1 no doubt.
Puerto Rico 39 Mexico 22....that's the latest count we have as far as the rivalry is concerned. Doesn't sound like that much of a rivalry considering the edge PR is holding against Mexico. Margo is the next victim. Think about this Puerto Rico has a population of about 3.5 million and another 3.5 million in the states...Mexico has about 140 million and another 20 million! Mexicans should be grateful and thank God Puerto Rico isn't any bigger...:yep
stop your crying...the facts are that we beat the mexicans head to head. You still have a way to go to catch up.
PR...we have the better skilled fighters. Yes mexican vs mexican makes great fights because they are human punching bags and are there to be hit...but we're talking about head to head...we are better.
