La Raza is not a gang a Mexican-Brazilian philosopher coined the phrase to mean the cosmic race its supposed to refer to all Latinos. Its been a while since I have read his book so i am a bit foogy on the details at the moment. Chicano rights groups of the 60's began to call themselves La Raza and it has stuck.

Their is a political group called the National Council of La Raza that is far from being a gang.

Actually I didnt quite explain myself accurately. In certain parts of SGV and LA the violence is pretty bad with Black/Brown. But it really is differnent than those white supremecist groups.
