just to clear things i had heard the term Mexican style years ago not so much in the Mexican media more in the US media and it was combined with the thought that it was willing to take three shots to give one

i think it just popped up after certain things started to be associated more with the way mexicans fight in general. like the mexican hook, i dont remember that leaning left hook being called the mexican hook. but its a punch taught in most mexican gyms as the preferred way to deliver a hook to the body, so...
aggressiveness is another thing associated with mexican boxing, which is a sign of heart, which is expected in warriors. coming up through the ranks as a mexican boxer, im sure they get reminded of their mother along with a beer bath, if they show lack of heart.
when i was a pre teen and just falling in love with the sport, i used to watch any available boxing in the 9 or 10 channels available on tv. on saturday nights they used to broadcast fights from mexico city. my family and the neighbors would pull the tv outside. while the men drank and watched boxing, betting for change, the women got together and cooked up whatever they felt like making. wasnt too many guy things to do for a married man, at 10 pm on a saturday night, so watching boxing and drinking beer became a ritual for my pops and the neighbor.
fond memories of a world long gone.

I always thought that it meant that too. But also thought it meant a lack of clinching, standing toe to toe and not ducking any of the top guys. It was supposed to be a compliment to call a fighter Mexican style.

i personally believe it comes from the Tayler fight in the post fight interview Chavez said he felt tired and for every punches he threw Taylor would land three and that got misinterpreted.
