I think this could become a rivalry beyond Vic vs. Mijares, Arce... What about Martirosyan vs. Chavez Jr. Are both guys ready to make that happen and what do you think the result would be? Any other potential fights out there now or in the future between these nationalities?
I think Chaves will lose before he ever gets an opportunity to fight Vanes, but I think Vanes-Angulo will be a fight to look forward to in the future. If Vanes improves his jab just a bit more, he will be very hard to beat.
well there aint to many armenian pro boxers most of them are amateur and very good aswell. theres obviously koren gevor and arthur abraham who just beat raul marquez but theres a 22yr old lightwieght who fights out of the same gym as martirosyan named artyom hovanessyan he's only 7-0 but was a super amateur so he's one to look out for but i cant think of any other armenian pro's
Simonyan was Armenian wasnt he? Vasquez and Sanchez handed him his arse..I think Mtagwa might have beat him too. Only one of those were mexican though.
Here is a list of Armenians to look over.. http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.php/Category:Armenian_Boxers
Wrong title of thread. There are too few Armenians to make a dent of the Mexican stronghold in boxing...
Of course not on the level of Mexicans vs. Puerto Ricans. In Southern California alone, there are a lot of Armenians (300,000+) and Mexicans. For instance, at the Mijares/Darchinyan fight, the audience was a good portion of Mexicans and Armenians (I couldn't take a guess on the percentage, but high nonetheless). With the success of the boxing gym in Glendale, I'm just wondering if there is a chance of a LASTING mini-rivalry in at least a few weight divisions between the two sides.
Mexicans win easily!!!!!!!!! Wait for Arce to show vic how it's done. The only bad thing about this is I'm pretty sure Kim Kardashian is on the other side. I guess for me it's going to be a love-hate thing!:-(
