Mexico still dominate lower weights

    Todays belt in lower weights (SF below):

    6 belts Mexico
    5 belts Philippines
    3 belts Japan
    3 belts Venezuela
    2 belts USA
    1 belt : Panama, South Africa, Canada, Thailand, France, Australia, Russia, Argentina, Ghana, Puerto Rico and Ukraine

    Pacquiao, Vasquez and Calderon are the only lower weight boxers who owns The Ring belts.

    Mijares will face off with Venezuelan Alex Muñoz and Uli Solis will exchange leathers with Philppines Rubillar on May 17th while DPDL will be tested against undefeated Puerto Rican Juan Manuel Lopez this June 6th.

    This is a good time for Philippine boxing. It's not often that they can boast this many belts at one time.

    Mexico will always be a factor in the lower weight divisions.

    I wouldn't exactly call that domination. No doubt Mexico produces alot of great small fighter though

    I think the quality of fighter has probably always existed there. Manny has forced people to pay attention to the country and these fighters have been given opportunities because of it. Good on Manny and good on the Phillippines.

    true. and more and more people are trying it our because they now know boxing will be good to you is you work hard enough.

    mexico has been and will always be a force in the lower weights and it will continue to be for a very long while
