    scene this that Hernandez was voted number 1 25.7 percent, Juan Marquez number 2 23.9%, and Canelo distant 3rd 12.7 percent.

    JCC JR, was nowhere near the TOP 5. which was pretty shocking as many will argue Canelo is nothing In Mexico and JCC jr is much more popular, "Quincy K eat crow :good" but as seen here Canelo is top 3.

    Good stuff. Said that I wondered if Marquez ko of pacquiao had vaulted him past Hernandez in popularity and it almost did. Marquez used to be the ******* of the big three with Morales and Barrera well infront

    but now he is king, and that almost did catapult him over, but soccer remain first, and Boxing a close second, but its mexico 2 top sports.

    With the hardcore Mexican sport fan, Marquez likely currenty is #1.

    You have to take into account that the polls are made up of mostly casual and women fans.

    Chicharrito and Canelo and a wider appeal with women.
    The women in Mexico I understand are facinated with Canelo's red hair.

    If they were to poll just men, I think Marquez at the moment would be the clear #1 choice.

    exactly. whos poll is this? no one(men) here talks about canelo. they all know he hes a protected paper champion at this point. the lopez fight sealed the deal.

    canelos nowhere to be scene on billboards/print media or novellas

    have you even visited mexico before(baja norte excluded)?

    seriously, some of you guys think you know mexico but you know nothing about it.

    please, leave the expertise regarding this country to people(not born here or of mexican descent) that actually have spent time here...and considerable at that(five years).

    If you're going to make a statement like this bashing Doc, at least refute whats wrong with the premise of his thread.

    Doc is simply stating what he's read and directing us to a link, what the hell is wrong with that?

    I really think Canelo shouldn't be that high. Sorry but he hasn't earned it yet. Hell, I'd put JCC Jr ahead of him; at least Jr has fought an elite or world class. Nothing against Canelo, I like him. But it shouldn't have taken JMM this long to finally reach top 3 or 5. But whatever. It's a popularity contest which shouldn't really be taken seriously. Still a bit annoying though.

    Chicharito is definitely number one. All groups of people know him. Men, women, children of all ages.

    It says alot that JMM is now that high. Crazy to think he used to be the one no one had heard of. He has clearly surpassed Morales and Barrera now.

    Yeah I have and no I've hardly scene boxers in ads plastered everywhere and laugh that you think seeing ads in your area means anything for how popular a fighter is over all.
